Ayer a las once de la mañana, ocurrió en Venezuela un acto espurio en el salón elíptico del edificio del congreso de la república. Iba abstenerme de hacer ningún comentario al respecto, pero en vista del desánimo que parece subir en la motivación de mis compatriotas, jamás puedo quedar indiferente ante tal realidad. Una de las frases claves a la que ha apelado la Vicepresidente de nuestro país -María Corina Machado- ha sido "vean las señales" y aunque es lógico suponer que todos somos observadores, jamás se puede pretender que la mayoría tenemos la capacidad de verlas. He allí el meollo de ésta contribución al feed de HIVE. Para entrar en contexto hay algo por dejar en claro: la juramentación llevada a cabo el día de ayer, fue la guinda del pastel de un proceso que ha sido llevado magistralmente adelante por la oposición en pleno, con autoría del Presidente Edmundo González en conjunto con la líder que aglutina a quienes estamos completamente hartos del dictador. Yesterday at eleven o'clock in the morning, a spurious act took place in Venezuela in the elliptical hall of the building of the Congress of the Republic. I was going to refrain from making any comment on the matter, but in view of the discouragement that seems to be rising in the spirits of my compatriots, I can never remain indifferent to such a reality. One of the key phrases to which the Vice-President of our country -María Corina Machado- has appealed has been “see the signs” and although it is logical to assume that we are all observers, it can never be pretended that most of us are capable of seeing them. Therein lies the crux of this contribution to the HIVE feed. To get into context, there is something to be made clear: yesterday's swearing-in was the icing on the cake of a process that has been masterfully carried out by the entire opposition, with President Edmundo Gonzalez's authorship in conjunction with the leader who brings together those of us who are completely fed up with the dictator. Let's take a look at the 3 most important signals from yesterday:

El acto
Dos señales saltan rápidamente a la vista: la paranoia "gubernamental" adelantó una hora el acto de juramentación. Estaba pautado para las 12 del mediodía, pero se realizó una hora ANTES de lo previsto ¿Por qué cree, apreciado lector, pasó esto? La pantomima fue llevada a cabo en un recinto reservado para conmemoraciones (en éste caso, para celebrar el discurso de rigor cuando se celebra el 05 de Julio, porque allí reposa el acta de independencia de nuestro país); SIEMPRE se han hecho las juramentaciones presidenciales en el hemiciclo de la asamblea nacional, frente al pleno de diputados al congreso (sean del partido de gobierno o de la oposición) ¿No les parece extraño el cambio de lugar? En el primer caso solo podríamos justificar el cambio de hora por un miedo irascible, incluso el dictador Ortega llegó al acto luego de finalizado. En el segundo caso, el cambio de salón solo puede indicar fracturas en el seno del partido, dada la segura negativa de una gran cantidad de diputados que no habrían querido refrendar algo no diferente a la juramentación de Pedro Carmona Estanga.

The swearing
Two signs quickly jump out: the “governmental” paranoia brought forward the swearing-in ceremony by one hour. It was scheduled for 12 noon, but it took place one hour EARLIER than planned. Why do you think, dear reader, this happened? The act was carried out in a place reserved for commemorations (in this case, to celebrate the speech of July 5th, where the act of independence of our country rests; presidential swearing-in ceremonies have ALWAYS been held in the hemicycle of the national assembly, in front of the full congressional deputies (whether from the government or the opposition party). In the first case we could only justify the change of time by an irascible fear, even the dictator Ortega arrived to the act after it was finished. In the second case, the change of hall can only indicate fractures within the party, given the sure refusal of a large number of deputies who would not have wanted to endorse something not different from the swearing in of Pedro Carmona Estanga.

"Los invitados"
Una de las señales más dramáticas tiene relación con las personalidades invitadas a la bufonada de ayer. En efecto, la legitimidad de origen de cualquier país VERDADERAMENTE democrático, comienza con un acto de juramentación, donde dignatarios extranjeros son invitados a la investidura. Esto entrega la solemnidad, legitimidad y el aval debido al funcionario que se encuentre jurando el cargo. No sé ustedes pero, que solo hayan venido dos dictadores (díaz canel de Cuba y ortega de Nicaragua, así con minúsculas), le entrega una muy oscura nube a un día que debió ser soleado. Jamás andas por el mundo presumiendo a los amigotes violadores de derechos humanos, desafiando con una legitimidad espúrea al resto de las democracias del mundo, diciendo que tu acto es válido y asegurando: "Digan lo que quieran, hagan lo que quieran, pero esta toma de posesión no la pudieron impedir" No sé yo, pero cuando alguien autonombrado declara algo como así y tiene que emplazar a la oposición con tal frase, creo que la misma legitimidad de origen está en entredicho ¿por qué? Bueno, la oposición y el país entero no avalan tal acto.

“The Guests”
One of the most dramatic signs has to do with the personalities invited to yesterday's buffoonery. In effect, the legitimacy of origin of any TRULY democratic country begins with an act of swearing in, where foreign dignitaries are invited to the investiture. This gives solemnity, legitimacy and due endorsement to the official taking the oath of office. I don't know about you, but the fact that only two dictators (Díaz Canel of Cuba and Ortega of Nicaragua, in lower case letters) came, gives a very dark cloud to a day that should have been solemn. You never go around the world showing off to the human rights violator cronies, challenging with a spurious legitimacy the rest of the democracies of the world, saying that your act is valid and assuring: “Say what you want, do what you want, but this inauguration could not be prevented” I do not know, but when someone self-appointed declares something like that and has to challenge the opposition with such a phrase, I think that the very legitimacy of origin is in question, why? Well, the opposition and the whole country do not endorse such an act.

Las protestas del 09 de Enero
Es verdad, no salió el 100% de la gente a la calle, pero salió a protestar mucho más de la prevista. Las imágenes que llegaron por las redes son lapidarias: mientras las tarimas montadas por el gobierno para dar arengas cerca de los puntos de encuentro donde la oposición se encontraría estaban desiertas (otra maniobra que les salió malísima), las nutridas agrupaciones de los opositores lograron marcar la diferencia. Según el observatorio venezolano de conflictos, 179 protestas fueron registradas y solo en 15 de ellas actuaron los gorilas todavía no convencidos de la caída del gobierno (lanzaron gases lacrimógenos). La gran mayoría de los cordones de seguridad para evitar el desplazamiento de las protestas, fueron disueltos por la misma policía y la Guardia Nacional (GNB). Si esa no es la mayor señal de TODAS, es imposible que usted crea algo diferente a los muy pocos día que le quedan a ésta pesadilla. Así las cosas, solo puedo invitar a ver las señales y seguir las directrices de los líderes actuales, ahora convertidos en Presidente y Vicepresidente de la República, por obra de nuestra constitución y la soberanía popular.

The January 09 protests
It is true, not 100% of the people came out to the streets, but they came out to protest much more than expected. The images that arrived through the networks are lapidary: while the platforms set up by the government to give speeches near the meeting points where the opposition would meet were deserted (another maneuver that went badly for them), the large groups of the opposition managed to make the difference. According to the Venezuelan Observatory of Conflicts, 179 protests were registered and only in 15 of them did the gorillas, still not convinced of the fall of the government, act (they threw tear gas). The great majority of the security cordons to prevent the displacement of the protests were dissolved by the same police and the National Guard (GNB). If that is not the biggest sign of ALL, it is impossible for you to believe anything different than the very few days left in this nightmare. Thus, I can only invite you to see the signs and follow the guidelines of the current leaders, now President and Vice President of the Republic, by the work of our constitution and popular sovereignty.
