Dos aspectos filosóficos de la web3
El término web 3 desde que fue anunciado hace ya varios años, se ha mostrado como un planteamiento que viene a proponernos un innovador modo de relacionarnos con la web. Es una cosmovisión lo suficientemente poderosa como para cambiar todo lo que hoy podemos considerar “normal”. Así que con esta reflexión pretendo hacer una aproximación discursiva al estado de la humanidad en el mundo digital contemporáneo, teniendo como parámetro dos aspectos claves de la web 3, la descentralización y la propiedad de los datos en función de lo que el ser humano puede hacer digitalmente hablando.
A lo largo de la historia humana, el desarrollo de estructuras de poder ha estado implícito, exceptuando el caso aislado de la isla tortuga en el mar caribe que en determinado momento de la historia fue una especie de utopía pirata ya que carecía de organización política del modo habitual. Ahora bien, el ser humano reemplaza una cabeza por otra, un tirano por otro, y aunque han habido cambios en los diversos modos de edificar el ejercicio de poder, en realidad no parece que hayan habido cambios realmente significativos o paradigmáticos.
La web 3 se asoma al mundo como una propuesta realmente transformadora. Se esfuerza por erigirse como el planteamiento de un nuevo ejercicio de poder diferente, esfuerzos en un cambio de concepción política en el ámbito digital, aunque con la posibilidad de poder extender sus fronteras más allá de lo digital. Desde siempre, lo desconocido y lo novedoso parecen caminar por terrenos sinuosos, por lo que es menester ganarse la confianza.de los usuarios de las plataformas digitales y solo de ese modo poder apuntar a la masificación de los valores de web3.
De las características principales de Web3 tenemos la descentralización y la propiedad de los datos, de este modo pretendo detenerme en cada uno de estos dos aspectos imprescindibles a la hora de comprender web3 de la mejor manera posible y evitar confusiones de sentido.
Descentralización
Sin adentrarnos en los problemas ya existentes a causa del oligopolio de la web2, la descentralización se muestra como una cosmovisión innovadora del ejercicio de poder. Quizá sea una opinión generalizada el deseo de abolir el estado, pero, pensando en reflexiones políticas y sociales propuestas por Thomas Hobbes, el estado ha sido la figura que hemos parido en función de una convivencia duradera, pero, la misma historia nos ha mostrado las falencias del sistema, los huecos conceptuales, y con esto no afirmo que la descentralización que propone la web3 sea la panacea política, pero cuanto menos es un punto de partida mediante el cual, el ejercicio de poder podría ser verdaderamente democrático, aunque “lo democrático” debe también ser repensado.
Si googleamos el término descentralización obtendremos en pocas palabras una definición un tanto escueta, me atrevo a decir que la descentralización es la organización política donde el status quo, es deconstruido al mejor estilo derridadiano, en otras palabras, deconstruir el sistema político convencional es replantear la figura del poder, con la descentralización de la web3 gracias al desarrollo blockchain, el ejercicio es repartido y a su vez democratizando hasta cierto aspecto, considero de manera muy personal que, una democratización absoluta es utópica, en cambio, promover una democratización del poder con rasgos plutocráticos por un lado, propone un incentivo en la toma de participación y por otro lado, no permite una distópica desviación corrupta del poder de manera antiética.
Pensar y apuntar a una descentralización es construir un nuevo orden, a mi parecer, Hive como blockchain de web 3 es la plataforma que más se ha acercado a una descentralización de facto. Aunque esto asoma muchos retos en el desarrollo de una nueva economía. Aspecto que procuraré abordar en otra oportunidad, ya que el modo de incentivar la participación desarrollado por Hive es un modelo lo suficientemente inteligente que me parece un modelo con una condición de posibilidad con proyección y escalabilidad única.
Hablar de descentralización es esbozar el modo en el cual el poder es repartido entre varios, evitando precisamente una centralización o monopolización del poder. Pero, la pregunta que debe importar es ¿Cómo repartir el poder y entre quienes? Respuesta que parece tener vacíos prematuros si lo pensamos desde la democracia, pero, si incluimos otro factor podríamos encontrar factores que puedan ayudarnos a repartir el poder de una manera más óptima, y en este punto vuelto a traer a Hive como el ejemplo más visible, ha demostrado en su trayectoria una funcionalidad viable y sostenible. Además, resulta más que evidente que la centralización no será un modelo viable a largo plazo, la centralización conduce a la tiranía, y la democracia sola, a una oligarquía disimulada.
Hive ha resuelto la repartición del poder en capas que se engranan, construyendo una ecosistema en función de la gobernabilidad, ha mezclado de un modo interesante el factor computacional con la confianza de las personas. Su protocolo Dpos, o prueba de participación delegada, delega la gobernanza en 20 nodos validadores, estos 20 son escogidos por la comunidad por medio del consenso efectuando votos, pero no todos los votos tienen el mismo valor, sino que a mayor influencia, mayor fuerza de ejercicio de poder por medio del voto. En resumen, es un recurso que deambula entre dos postulados como un camino medio. Es por ello que este ejemplo de web 3 resulta atractivo para seguir profundizando.
Propiedad de los datos:
Los datos o la información es de las cosas más vulnerables actualmente, y no hablo en función de la seguridad digital, sino en el sentido de la pertenencia del control de los datos. Big Tech ha erigido una economía donde los datos no solo son transables, sino que propician un papel protagonista como materia prima, convirtiéndonos en puro y duro capital humano. Así que el reto que se pone frente a lo digital es como cambiar la actual economía de la atención, por otro tipo de economía. La pregunta es ¿Qué tipo de economía?
Web3 se presenta con una economía basada en criptomonedas, Hive en especial posee una propuesta económica en primera capa, en una segunda capa propone la libertad de crear nuevos modelos económicos, pero el asunto de la economía será abordado en otra ocasión.
Volvamos al asunto del control de los datos. En web3 no hay una trazabilidad con tu información, de hecho, la información que toda persona proporcione le pertenece, por lo tanto, se puede decir que cada persona es el soberano de sus datos e información. En web3 hablamos de plataformas resistentes a la censura y a la vigilancia. Pero el sentido de propiedad va mucho más allá del pleno control de datos. Sino que somos dueños de cada una de nuestras acciones en web3, haciendo que toda persona que participe de web3 más que un usuario, es en realidad un socio.
Este nuevo panorama digital asoma un sentido de propiedad digital que no se nos había mostrado antes, quizá estemos frente a un nuevo paradigma informático que delimitará el modo de construir negocios, empresas y proyectos. Quizá estemos frente a pequeñas startups que eventualmente hayan desempeñado un papel importante en la edificación de web3, y es que cualquiera en sentido estricto puede construir proyectos de valor, y es precisamente el valor lo que se planta como un factor interesante en web3. Un ejemplo rápido de comprender son las comunidades tokenizadas en Hive. Son en principio un nicho específico que permite ser un repositorio de contenido, pero que gracias a la escalabilidad de Hive en cuestión de ejemplo pueden construir propuestas de valor.
A modo de conclusión, filosóficamente podemos decir que web3 es una “Weltanschauung” al mejor estilo de la filosofía alemana post kantiana. Una cosmovisión, o mejor dicho, una forma de concebir el mundo. Quizá se pueda afirmar que el mundo no es tal como es, sino tal como somos, y web3 está modificando los parámetros establecidos en el ámbito digital, de modo que en la web3 esté la clave de un innovador modo de concebir nuestra realidad. De manera fáctica, web3 se nos presenta como el nuevo horizonte de posibilidades, por ahora, posibilidades digitales, quizá más adelante no solo hablemos en el ámbito digital.

Two philosophical aspects of the web3
Since it was announced several years ago, the term web 3 has shown itself to be an approach that proposes an innovative way of relating to the web. It is a worldview powerful enough to change everything that today we can consider "normal ". So with this reflection I intend to make a discursive approach to the state of humanity in the contemporary digital world, taking as a parameter two key aspects of the web 3, decentralization and ownership of data in terms of what the human being can do digitally speaking.
Throughout human history, the development of power structures has been implicit, except for the isolated case of the turtle island in the Caribbean Sea, which at a certain point in history was a kind of pirate utopia because it lacked political organization in the usual way. Now, human beings replace one head for another, one tyrant for another, and although there have been changes in the various ways of building the exercise of power, in reality it does not seem that there have been really significant or paradigmatic changes.
Web 3 appears to the world as a truly transformative proposal. It strives to set itself up as the approach of a new and different exercise of power, efforts in a change of political conception in the digital sphere, although with the possibility of being able to extend its borders beyond the digital. Since always, the unknown and the new seem to walk on winding roads, so it is necessary to gain the trust of the users of digital platforms and only in this way to aim at the massification of the values of web3.
Of the main characteristics of Web3 we have the decentralization and ownership of data, so I intend to dwell on each of these two essential aspects when understanding web3 in the best possible way and avoid confusion of meaning.
Decentralization
Without going into the problems already existing due to the oligopoly of the web2, decentralization is shown as an innovative worldview of the exercise of power. Perhaps it is a generalized opinion to wish to abolish the state, but, thinking in political and social reflections proposed by Thomas Hobbes, the state has been the figure that we have given birth to in function of a lasting coexistence, but, history itself has shown us the system's shortcomings, the conceptual holes, and with this I do not affirm that the decentralization proposed by the web3 is the political panacea, but at least it is a starting point by which the exercise of power could be truly democratic, although "the democratic" must also be rethought.
If we google the term decentralization we will get in a few words a somewhat succinct definition, I dare say that decentralization is the political organization where the status quo is deconstructed in the best Derrida style, in other words, deconstructing the conventional political system is to rethink the figure of power, with the decentralization of the web3 thanks to the blockchain development, I personally consider that an absolute democratization is utopian, on the other hand, promoting a democratization of power with plutocratic features on the one hand, proposes an incentive in the taking of participation and on the other hand, does not allow a dystopian corrupt deviation of power in an unethical way.
To think and aim at a decentralization is to build a new order, in my opinion, Hive as a web 3 blockchain is the platform that has come closest to a de facto decentralization. Although this looms many challenges in the development of a new economy. Aspect that I will try to address in another opportunity, since the way of incentivizing participation developed by Hive is a smart enough model that seems to me a model with a condition of possibility with unique projection and scalability.
To speak of decentralization is to outline the way in which power is distributed among many, precisely avoiding a centralization or monopolization of power. But, the question that should matter is how to share power and among whom? Answer that seems to have premature gaps if we think about it from democracy, but, if we include another factor we could find factors that can help us to share power in a more optimal way, and at this point we bring back Hive as the most visible example, it has demonstrated in its trajectory a viable and sustainable functionality. Moreover, it is more than evident that centralization will not be a viable model in the long run, centralization leads to tyranny, and democracy alone, to a disguised oligarchy.
Hive has solved the distribution of power in interlocking layers, building an ecosystem based on governance, and has interestingly mixed the computational factor with people's trust. Its Dpos protocol, or proof of delegated participation, delegates governance to 20 validator nodes, these 20 are chosen by the community through consensus by casting votes, but not all votes have the same value, but the greater the influence, the greater the strength of the exercise of power through voting. In short, it is a resource that wanders between two postulates as a middle way. That is why this example of web 3 is attractive for further study.
Data ownership:
Data or information is one of the most vulnerable things today, and I am not talking in terms of digital security, but in the sense of ownership of data control. Big Tech has created an economy where data is not only tradable, but also plays a leading role as a raw material, turning us into pure and simple human capital. So the challenge facing digital is how to change the current economy of attention, for another kind of economy. The question is, what kind of economy?
Web3 is presented with an economy based on cryptocurrencies, Hive in particular has an economic proposal in the first layer, in a second layer it proposes the freedom to create new economic models, but the issue of economics will be addressed another time.
Let's go back to the issue of data control. In web3 there is no traceability with your information, in fact, the information that every person provides belongs to him, therefore, it can be said that each person is the sovereign of his data and information. In web3 we talk about platforms resistant to censorship and surveillance. But the sense of ownership goes far beyond full control of data. Rather, we own each of our actions on web3, making every person who participates in web3 more of a partner than a user.
This new digital landscape shows a sense of digital ownership that we had not been shown before, perhaps we are facing a new IT paradigm that will delimit the way to build businesses, companies and projects. Perhaps we are facing small startups that have eventually played an important role in the construction of web3, and is that anyone in the strict sense can build projects of value, and it is precisely the value that is planted as an interesting factor in web3. A quick example to understand is the tokenized communities in Hive. They are in principle a specific niche that allows to be a repository of content, but thanks to the scalability of Hive in a matter of example can build value propositions.
By way of conclusion, philosophically we can say that web3 is a "Weltanschauung" in the best style of German post-Kantian philosophy. A worldview, or rather, a way of conceiving the world. Perhaps it can be said that the world is not as it is, but as we are, and web3 is modifying the established parameters in the digital sphere, so that web3 is the key to an innovative way of conceiving our reality. In a factual way, web3 is presented to us as the new horizon of possibilities, for now, digital possibilities, perhaps later we will not only speak in the digital realm.
