Greetings, dear colleagues. I'm here with a #Tbt full of memories and love. It's about my friend Yordan's wedding with his wife Andreina, back in 2021. In fact, it was the first wedding I attended since arriving in Colombia.
We met them here in Colombia. Immigration also has that effect: in the country where you settle, you meet many people, even fellow countrymen, since they are also Venezuelans. This was the first wedding I attended during my stay in this country.
Saludos, estimados compañeros. Por aquí vengo con un #Tbt lleno de recuerdos y amor. Se trata de la boda de mi amigo Yordan con su esposa Andreina, eso fue por allá en el año 2021. De hecho, fue la primera boda a la que asistí desde mi llegada a Colombia.
A ellos los conocimos aquí en Colombia. La migración también tiene eso: hace que, en el país donde te radiques, conozcas a muchas personas, incluso paisanos, ya que ellos también son venezolanos. Esta fue la primera boda que viví durante mi estadía en este país.
The celebration took place at a Christian church they attend. In fact, we met a lot of people there, and two other Venezuelan friends also got married (but we'll save that for another TBT). This church was very close to where we lived at the time, about five minutes away. The ceremony took place around 7 or 8 p.m., if I recall correctly. Everything was elegant, and the bride and groom looked spectacular in their matching attire.
I remember joking around because my friend Yordan was standing there, waiting for the bride, probably feeling incredibly nervous, something very common at those times. Soon, the long-awaited moment arrived: the bride's arrival. She was very elegant, and her happiness was evident, as was my friend's when he saw her walk through the door. Applause immediately broke out, and of course, everyone took out their phones to capture the moment with photos and videos.
La celebración se llevó a cabo en una iglesia cristiana a la que ellos asisten. De hecho, allí conocimos a muchas personas, y también se casaron otros dos amigos venezolanos (pero eso lo dejamos para otro TBT). Esta iglesia quedaba muy cerca de donde vivíamos en ese entonces, como a unos cinco minutos. La ceremonia fue como a eso de las 7 u 8 de la noche, si mal no recuerdo. Todo estaba elegante, y los novios lucían espectaculares con su vestimenta correspondiente.
Recuerdo que bromeábamos porque mi amigo Yordan estaba allí parado, esperando a la novia, seguramente con los nervios a millón, algo muy común en ese tipo de momentos. Al rato llegó el momento esperado: la llegada de la novia. Estaba muy elegante, su felicidad se notaba a simple vista, al igual que la de mi amigo al verla entrar por la puerta. De inmediato se escucharon los aplausos, y por supuesto, cada quien sacó su teléfono para capturar el momento con fotos y videos.
Afterward, we all sat down to enjoy the ceremony. We commonly see weddings in Catholic churches, where a priest performs the ceremony, but as I mentioned, they attend a Christian church, so in this case, it was the pastor who officiated the ceremony. More than anything, it was a symbolic and public act of the union of two people who love each other, since the civil marriage had already taken place.
The ceremony was simple, with prayers of thanks and requests for God's blessing, words from the bride and groom, a photo session, and a dance to romantic music, something similar to a quinceanera waltz. Afterward, there was the toast and, finally, a moment to spend time with the bride and groom, give gifts, and do everything else, since after a while, they would leave to continue making their love a reality on their long-awaited honeymoon.
Después todos nos sentamos a disfrutar de la ceremonia. Comúnmente vemos bodas en iglesias católicas, donde un sacerdote es quien realiza el acto, pero como les comenté, ellos asisten a una iglesia cristiana, así que en este caso fue el pastor quien ofició la ceremonia. Más que todo, se trató de un acto simbólico y público de la unión de dos personas que se aman, ya que previamente el matrimonio civil ya se había realizado.
La ceremonia fue sencilla, con oraciones de agradecimiento y peticiones de bendición a Dios, palabras por parte de los novios, sesión fotográfica y un baile con música romántica, algo parecido al vals de los 15 años. Después vino el brindis y, por último, un espacio para compartir con los novios, dar regalos y todo lo demás, ya que al cabo de un rato ellos se irían a seguir concretando su amor en la tan esperada luna de miel.
Everything was beautiful, there were no setbacks, and the truth is that day was a complete success. Today, my friends are still together, committed to the love they promised each other, and we continue to wish them all the happiness in the world, hoping that this union will last, as the seal that united them says: "until death do us part."
Todo estuvo muy bonito, no hubo contratiempos, la verdad es que ese día fue todo un éxito. Hoy en día mis amigos siguen juntos, comprometidos con ese amor que se prometieron, y les seguimos deseando toda la felicidad del mundo, esperando que esa unión dure, como dice el sello que los unió: “hasta que la muerte los separe”.
