"Origins" seems to me one of the coolest names that could ever have been assigned to a festival. Knowing everything that this event means was an opportunity that I had last year and that in May of this year I was able to repeat.
This literary day is responsible for bringing together writers and troubadours in search of paying tribute to the national apostle José Martí and the literary group "Origins", both remembered as milestones of literature in our country.
On this occasion I did not travel alone, but was accompanied by two researchers and the executive secretary of the organization. As soon as I arrived I met the people I had barely met the previous year, but with their hospitality they welcomed me like another brother.
The activities were not long in coming. One of the main focuses of this event is the visit to the central azucarero de Contramaestre, a place that served to win a large part of the funds that could afford the publication of the literary magazine Origenes. There we visited the house of the former owner of the central and also the facilities that are not currently in operation. We combined the tour with basic knowledge of how sugar is prepared in that place, as well as a lot of historical data that allowed us to better understand the historical panorama of that time.
The next day we carried out the second most important activity of this literary day: the ritual of the heart. It was in the Remanganaguas cemetery that the remains of José Martí were discovered for the first time. Then, the inhabitants of the place began to say that on the day of his death, just on May 19, if an ear was placed on the ground, the apostle's heartbeat could be heard. We, year after year, repeat this moment. It is the most solemn moment we have and is treated by each of the participants with the greatest respect. After doing so, we dedicated some time for the trova and poetry.
I appealed to memory and declaimed one of José Martí's most emotional poems: "El rayo surca sangriento". The emotion I felt while reciting was such that I ended up with tears in my eyes. Since then it has been impossible for me to read poems aloud without being moved to the core.
That day we also shared with the communities surrounding the cemetery and ended up having lunch on the grass, as if we were on a picnic.
There were also theoretical spaces in which we learned about history, and all the trade-offs that exist between historians of Cuba. There are many speculations and only by investigating closely can we know which is the closest route to the story according to the testimonies that remain.
However, the most festive moments took place in the evenings. Every day there was a trova concert in the company of the poets and writers who enlivened the night. We all had a space to shine, so each of us who participated felt completely satisfied.
I never get tired of saying that Bosun is a magical town and I thank this event a thousand times for allowing me to get to know it from up close. Will I be back next year? I don't know yet, I just know that it satisfies me to bring these memories to the surface to share them with you. I hope to meet again at the next #tbt. See you soon!

"Orígenes" me parece uno de los nombres más geniales que jamás podía habérsele adjudicado a un festival. Conocer todo lo que este evento significa fue una oportunidad que tuve el año pasado y que en mayo de este año pude repetir.
Esta jornada literaria se encarga de reunir a escritores y trovadores en busca de hacer homenaje al apóstol nacional José Martí y al grupo literario "Orígenes", ambos recordados como hitos de la literatura en nuestro país.
En esta ocasión no viajé solo, sino que me acompañaron dos investigadores y la secretaria ejecutiva de la organización. Apenas llegué me encontré con las personas que apenas conocí el año anterior, pero que con su hospitalidad me recibieron como un hermano más.
Las actividades no se hicieron esperar. Uno de los focos principales de este evento es la visita al central azucarero de Contramaestre, lugar que sirvió para ganar gran parte de los fondos que pudieron costear la publicación de la revista literaria Orígenes. Allí visitamos la casa del antiguo dueño del central y también las instalaciones que por ahora no se encuentran en funcionamiento. Combinamos el tour con conocimientos básicos de cómo se prepara el azúcar en ese lugar, además de muchos datos históricos que nos permitieron comprender mejor el panorama histórico de aquella época.
Al día siguiente realizamos la segunda actividad más importante de esta jornada literaria: el ritual del corazón. En el cementerio de Remanganaguas fue donde por vez primera se enteraron los restos de José Martí. Luego, los pobladores del lugar comenzaron a decir que el día de su fallecimiento, justo el 19 de mayo, si se colocaba un oído en la tierra se podrían escuchar los latidos del apóstol. Nosotros, año tras año, repetimos este momento. Es el instante más solemne que tenemos y es tratado por cada uno de los participantes con el mayor de los respetos. Luego de hacerlo, dedicamos un rato para la trova y la poesía.
Yo apelé a la memoria y declamé uno de los poemas más emotivos de José Martí: "El rayo surca sangriento". Fue tal la emoción que sentí mientras recitaba que terminé con lágrimas en los ojos. Desde entonces me es imposible leer poemas en voz alta sin conmoverme hasta la médula.
Ese día también compartimos con las comunidades aledañas al cementerio y terminamos almorzando en la hierba, como si estuviéramos en un picnic.
También hubo espacios teóricos en los que aprendimos sobre historia, y todas las disyuntivas que existen entre los historiadores de Cuba. Existen muchas especulaciones y solo investigando de cerca se puede conocer cuál es la ruta más cercana a la historia de acuerdo con los testimonios que quedan.
Sin embargo, los momentos más festivos se realizaban en las noches. Cada día se efectuaba un concierto de trova en compañía de los poetas y escritores que amenizaban la noche. Todos tuvimos un espacio para brillar, de manera que cada uno de los que participamos nos sentimos completamente satisfechos.
No me canso de decir que Contramaestre es un pueblo mágico y agradezco mil veces a este evento por permitirme conocerlo desde cerca. ¿Volveré el año próximo?
