Considering that I live in a city located on the banks of the confluence of two large rivers, the big question is why don't I spend more time by the water?
I love the water, I am relaxed by the sounds of the waves hitting the bottom of the raft, while I sit in the shade, with slippers on my feet, and watch the green water with a glass of wine.
Maybe the lack of time is the reason why I'm not on the river more often?
Or maybe the inability to organize myself with my company?
Today I had an opportunity that I didn't want to miss.
I had a business meeting in town and after it was over, I put aside my work duties, packed my laptop in my bag, silenced my cell phone and indulged in enjoyment.
The same as "In my past life, when I was still alive", when I was 20-25 years old, when I gave myself such pleasures every day 😃
Back then, I knew how to ride my bike to the river, take a boat ride to the nearby sandbar, where I sunbathe or swim, and often organize fishing and fish soup cooking with my friends. Drinking beer or wine was mandatory even then 🙂
Those days, without obligations, are gone now, and short trips like this are a real gift.
I drove my car to the parking lot under the pylons of the magnificent bridge on Ada, which was once featured in National geographic - magnificant construction as an exceptional construction project.
A few hundred paces over the embankment and rickety, winding, unsightly pontoon access, I reached the terrace of the raft on which I spent this Thursday afternoon.
The pictures I'm sharing with you now are from today, but each one individually reminded me of those distant days, when the view of the river was my everyday life...
Brandy as an aperitif, followed by a glass of rose wine.
Fish soup, the same as when we cooked it, and smoked catfish (caught this morning), was on the menu.
Extremely delicious, but even if it wasn't, the look I had would have gotten the point across.
We had ducks and swans as guests (we fed the swans with bread), and some rowers stopped by the raft.
Everyone was welcome!
The beautiful view of the river, boats, scooters, paddlers, ducks, swans and the big bridge, with occasional glances at the rods with their hooks set aside, occupied my attention all afternoon and as the sun began to sink below the horizon, I packed up and headed home.
This Thursday, and the reminder of some old days, made me want to visit the river more often, so I will dedicate this day to #TBT with the promise that the river will see me more often in the future.
