Greetings, #TBT Thursday loving friends! Today I want to share with you those moments that fill our hearts, both the good and the not so good. This is my first post in this wonderful community, and I have many memories stored in my gallery that I wish to tell you about. Although sometimes I feel a little off talking about them, I have always believed that remembering what makes us happy is important.

I have been a special education teacher for 23 years, and as I began my career, I decided to explore the different areas of the special education modality to learn in depth all that this career entails. I was always inclined to work with people with mental retardation. As the years went by, I fell in love with my profession and, above all, with the bond I have created with my students. I carry out this work day by day with love, passion and dedication.

In my last institution, where I was asked to provide support, I have had the opportunity to work with young people from 15 to over 50 years old. Here they are trained to prepare them for life and foster their independence. This workshop prepares them to integrate them into the workforce, and the most rewarding thing is to meet them on the street and hear them say "bless you mommy" or receive video calls just to see me; those moments are truly once in a lifetime.

Upon entering this institution, I connected with a group of wonderful friends who have become my chosen family of life. They are always there when I need them the most. I have always been outgoing and participative, so I couldn't resist when the Christmas parrandon was organized.

As expected, I was the first to sign up; I love to enjoy emotional moments with my students and colleagues. During the weeks leading up to Christmas we rehearsed together, living all those days with laughter and mistakes. Finally the big day arrived: our concerts would be given in several places, culminating in a very busy park in my city called Ayacucho. The morning was full of bagpipes and an atmosphere of harmony, love and fun.

After the concert, I went to a nearby shopping mall to share coffee and desserts with my friends; one of them emigrated years ago and by the way we celebrated our birthdays together since we were born on the same day. It was an amazing day where I felt that we were more than a team: we were a family enjoying the magic of Christmas while making others happy.

This day reminded me that Christmas is a time of peace, family togetherness and joy. It is also a time to honor those who are no longer with us, either because they have departed or emigrated. Of all the times of the year, this is the one I like the most because it highlights how important both the blood family and the chosen one are.

¡Saludos, amigos amantes de los jueves de #TBT! Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes esos momentos que nos llenan el corazón, tanto los buenos como los no tan buenos. Esta es mi primera entrada en esta maravillosa comunidad, y tengo muchos recuerdos guardados en mi galería que deseo contarles. Aunque a veces me siento un poco apagada para hablar de ellos, siempre he creído que recordar lo que nos hace felices es importante.

Desde hace 23 años soy profesora de educación especial y, al comenzar mi carrera, decidí explorar las diferentes áreas de la modalidad de educación especial para conocer a profundidad todo lo que implica esta carrera. Siempre me incliné por el trabajo con personas con retardo mental, mientras transcurria los años yo más me enamoraba de mi profesión y, sobre todo, del vínculo que he creado con mis alumnos. Este trabajo lo llevo a cabo día a día con amor, pasión y dedicación.

En mi última institución, donde fui requerida para prestar apoyo allí, he tenido la oportunidad de trabajar con jóvenes desde los 15 hasta más de 50 años. Aquí se les brinda formación para prepararlos para la vida y fomentar su independencia. Este taller los prepara para integrarlos al campo laboral y, lo más gratificante es encontrarlos en la calle y escucharles decir "bendición mami" o recibir videollamadas solo para verme; esos momentos son realmente únicos en la vida.

Al ingresar a esta institución, conecté con un grupo de amigos maravillosos que se han convertido en mi familia elegida de vida. Ellos están siempre presentes cuando más los necesito. Siempre he sido extrovertida y participativa, así que no pude resistirme cuando se organizó el parrandon navideño.

Como era de esperar, fui la primera en anotarme; me encanta disfrutar momentos emotivos con mis estudiantes y compañeros. Durante las semanas previas a la Navidad ensayamos juntos, viviendo todos esos días entre risas y errores. Finalmente llegó el gran día: nuestros conciertos se darían en varios lugares, culminaron en un parque muy concurrido de mi ciudad llamado Ayacucho. La mañana estuvo llena de gaitas y un ambiente de armonía, amor y diversión.

Después del concierto, fui a un centro comercial cercano a compartir un café y postres con mis amigas; una de ellas emigró hace años que por cierto celebramos nuestros cumpleaños juntas ya que nacimos el mismo día. Fue un día increíble donde sentí que éramos más que un equipo: éramos una familia disfrutando de la magia navideña mientras alegrábamos a otros.

Este día me recordó que la Navidad es un tiempo de paz, unión familiar y alegría. También es un momento para honrar a quienes ya no están con nosotros, ya sea porque han partido o porque han emigrado. De todas las épocas del año, esta es la que más me gusta porque resalta lo importante que es tanto la familia de sangre como la elegida.
