Sherlock

The BBC adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes is my all-time favourite tv show!!! Written by Mark Gattis and Steven Moffat, this show really captures the essence of suspense, mystery and comedy when it is required! If you are looking for a binge-worthy, brilliant mystery/crime show (especially in weird times like these!) then Sherlock is the show for you!!
The acting is incredible and it made me fall in love with the mystery genre immediately. Benedict Cumberbatch has always been one of my favourite actors, but this show has introduced me to another of my favourites… Andrew Scott!! What an actor! I would literally sit down and watch it just to see him act! He is so incredibly talented, it’s ridiculous! Three years ago I was extremely fortunate to be able to see Andrew Scott perform as Hamlet in London. It was so amazing to actually see him act live! We waited by the backstage door after the show and we got to meet him!!!!! I was so nervous! Despite it being around a 30 second encounter, I was shaking like mad!! I thought my legs were going to give out from under me ahaha!!!! Later on that year we found out he was coming to Romania for Comic Con! Unfortunately we left it until the last minute to buy the meet and greet tickets for him but we did get to see him from a distance!
I tried watching Sherlock back when it first aired in 2010 when I was 7 but I found it too scary. Honestly, I’d forgotten about it and never bothered to try it again until 2015 when we were dog sitting for our friends in Thailand. They had the full DVD box set so my dad and I decided to give it another go. I am so glad I did! Each episode lasts around 1hr 30 mins and there are 3 episodes per season. Some nights we ended up watching 3 episodes in a row! I became such a huge, huge fan of the show and I had watched the whole thing over and over again that at one point I could name you all of the episodes in the correct order of release!!! I know… crazy right?
Stranger Things

When it comes to Stranger Things, I can assure you, ask me any question and I’ll know the answer. I love this show so much that I might have watched it too many times! Everything about it is just great; the diverse casting, the 80’s (my absolute favourite decade of all time!), the music and on.
At first, @cheese4ead refused to let me watch it as it was too scary for me… yet, I think he’s the one that found it a little too intense and creepy. There was one time that he was deep in concentration with the show using noise cancelling earphones. He was led in complete darkness and the little light available was from the iPad screen showing Hopper inside Hawkins Lab (not the most pleasant of locations). I walked in, not knowing what he was watching and stood next to him trying to get his attention. Not knowing I was there, @cheese4ead was still completely immersed in his TV-show. Therefore, I moved closer and scared the living daylights out of him! It was hilarious! To me anyways!
Eventually, I convinced him to let me watch it together. When I started to watch it, season 2 was meant to drop a few weeks later, so it was perfect timing! We said we would only watch one episode a night but often that would turn into 3 or 4!! Intense, yes, but you just have to keep on watching as it is so well made! Stranger Things has become quite an important part of our family tradition ahaha. This summer just gone, no one was allowed to watch any of season 3 unless we were round my aunt and uncles viewing it all together. I believe we all finished it all within 2 to 3 days!
Cobra Kai

Not many people tend to know about Cobra Kai which is a shame! It is a spin-off show based on the original Karate Kid movies. I love this show so much! It's a perfect family show to binge on and has so many references to the original films which is amazing! My parents and I absolutely love Cobra Kai, you never know what is going to happen next! It is a really captivating show that always keeps you guessing. If you get the chance to watch it then you definitely should!
I follow lots of the main actors from Cobra Kai on instagram, so when I saw that Xolo Mariduena, Jacob Bertrand and William Zabka were going to be in London for Comic Con last summer…. I just had to go! I told my uncle about it and within days of me telling him about it, our tickets were booked! It was such an incredible experience! I got to meet the three of them and have pictures taken with them. Later in the day, Xolo and Jacob were at the signature signing desk but there was next to no line there as they were due to finish soon.
My uncle and I had to say hi properly, there's no way we couldn’t! We ended up having a 15 minute conversation with them before going on to meet the real Johnny Lawrence!!!!! (William Zabka). The whole day was just perfect, definitely one that I will remember forever. I was so happy and full of adrenaline I was shaking! To top that off, Jason Momoa walked right past me (no joke, he was 2 meters away from me) whilst my uncle was napping, but that's a story for another time haha!
Extra Picks

These are my other 2 favourite shows that I had to feature but they won’t be part of the Dpoll.
Elementary
I have only just started Elementary actually, but even 11 episodes in, it has me completely and utterly hooked! It is so interesting to watch a different adaptation of Sherlock Holmes’ story. Johnny Lee Miller is just so fantastic and really portrays Sherlock’s awkwardness. Not to mention, the chemistry that he has with Lucy Liu on screen is unbelievable.
The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy is also great. I have to admit, it took a while to get into it but after episode 3, I would watch hours of it in a row. I think I have watched series one 4 or 5 times at this point….. season 2 needs to come out soon!!!! If you have tried to watch it but given up on it, keep going, you’ll be hooked and wanting more by the end. If you haven’t seen it at all, watch it! You won’t regret it!
I hope you are all well and staying safe in these weird times. Fingers crossed this all blows over soon! Stay home and stay positive! Take care.
