El 2023 ha sido un año de muchos aprendizajes, y mirando en retrospectiva un año que estoy terminando muy diferente a como pude haberlo imaginado.
Sin embargo, hace un tiempo leí una frase que hacía referencia a que actualmente estamos viviendo al menos algo por lo cual rezábamos o pedíamos antes, y es cierto, mucho de lo que he aprendido y de la manera en la que vivo hoy en día eran cosas por las cuales antes yo pedía. Por eso, y debido a que los finales de año siempre son momento de reflexión, de cerrar capítulos, y mirar todo lo que hicimos o dejamos de hacer, aunque el tiempo sea relativo, quise compartir con ustedes las cosas buenas que me llevo de este año y por las cuales debo expresar mi gratitud.

- La familia y amigos son importantes, pero tú lo eres más y no es egoísta:
Creo que reconocer que en tu vida eres el personaje principal es una de las cosas más importantes para empezar a vivir en plenitud. La mayoría de las veces, y hablo desde mi perspectiva, (aún sabiendo que es bastante común) queremos poner las necesidades y los momentos en los que nuestro entorno necesita de nosotros, por encima de las veces en las que nos necesitamos a nosotros mismos. Pero este año agradezco haber aprendido que tomarme mi tiempo, respirar un poco, declinar invitaciones, no estar en donde está todo el mundo, no es algo malo, es pensar en qué me haría mejor en ese preciso instante y básicamente suplir lo que pide mi cuerpo, eso no significa que sea egoísta o no piense en las personas que quiero, sino que de igual forma me estoy priorizando.

- Family and friends are important, but you are more important and it's not selfish:
I think recognizing that in your life you are the main character is one of the most important things to start living fully. Most of the time, and I speak from my perspective, (even knowing that it is quite common) we want to put the needs and the times when our environment needs us, above the times when we need ourselves. But this year I am grateful to have learned that taking my time, breathing a little, declining invitations, not being where everyone else is, is not a bad thing, it is thinking about what would make me better at that precise moment and basically supplying what my body asks for, that does not mean that I am selfish or do not think about the people I love, but that I am prioritizing myself.

Esto va ligado a lo anterior, y es que durante todos estos meses, me ocurrieron tantas cosas que a veces bromeo con que viví varias vidas porque así se sintió. Sin embargo, ante tantas situaciones que me estaban afectando tuve que aprender que aunque no tengo el control de todo, debía saber qué tipo de cosas no eran negociables para mí y en base a eso tomar decisiones, ya fuese en el ámbito personal o en lo académico. Soy fiel creyente en que mis derechos terminan en donde empiezan los derechos de los demás, y este año aprendí la importancia de que así como el resto puede decir que "no", o mencionar cuando algo no les beneficia, yo lo podía expresar de igual forma y no pasaba nada, porque si yo entiendo eso en otras personas, ellos deberían poder entenderme de vuelta.

This is linked to the above, and is that during all these months, so many things happened to me that sometimes I joke that I lived several lives because that's how it felt. However, in the face of so many situations that were affecting me I had to learn that even though I am not in control of everything, I had to know what kind of things were non-negotiable for me and based on that make decisions, whether it was in the personal or academic realm. I am a firm believer that my rights end where the rights of others begin, and this year I learned the importance that just as others can say "no", or mention when something does not benefit them, I could express it in the same way and nothing would happen, because if I understand that in other people, they should be able to understand me back.

- Hay amigos para diferentes cosas y amigos para la vida:
Considero que esto es algo que en cierto momento de nuestras vidas nos toca aprender, pero es más común a mi edad, y en circunstancias en donde todos son desconocidos y empiezas de cero como me pasó a mí con la universidad. El hecho de no saber quién es quién en un principio e irme adaptando a todo y conocer a nuevas personas, hizo que automáticamente tuviese la necesidad de que todos fuesen mis amigos. Pero, algo que me tocó (des)aprender, fue la idea de que todos iban a ser mis mejores amigos y que iban a estar para todo por siempre. Porque no es así, en la vida hay diferentes áreas, por llamarlo de alguna forma, y hay personas que conocemos que encajan en unas sí y en otras no, que su compañía es perfecta por ejemplo para salidas, para hacer equipos pero no para remar contigo en las vicisitudes. Y fue ahí, donde tuve que volverme más crítica y selectiva, en donde entendí que por muchísimo amor que les tengo a las personas que he conocido en esta etapa, sólo pocos son amigos para la vida.

- There are friends for different things and friends for life:
I consider this something that at a certain point in our lives we have to learn, but it is more common at my age, and in circumstances where everyone is a stranger and you start from scratch as it happened to me with college. The fact of not knowing who is who in the beginning and adapting to everything and meeting new people, made me automatically have the need for everyone to be my friends. But, something that I had to (un)learn, was the idea that everyone was going to be my best friend and that they were going to be there for me forever. Because it is not so, in life there are different areas, to call it somehow, and there are people we know that fit in some yes and not in others, that their company is perfect for example for outings, to make teams but not to row with you in the vicissitudes. And it was there, where I had to become more critical and selective, where I understood that no matter how much love I have for the people I have met in this stage, only few are friends for life.

- Nunca se termina de sanar, no es lineal, así que vive hoy:
Un pensamiento muy errado que tenía y que creo que la mayoría adopta, es el hecho de que siempre tenemos que esperar un momento especial para hacer algo, o que tenemos que estar del todo estable, o del todo felices, cosa que no es cierta porque la vida no es lineal, sanar no es lineal, y vivir con el "cuando" es algo que me ha limitado infinidades de veces. Es decir, siempre estar frenada por pensar "cuando me sienta bien" "cuando tenga ánimos" "cuando tenga aquello que necesito" "cuando sea un momento especial", sin tomar en cuenta que cualquier momento es bueno para vivir lo que queremos, para empezar eso que deseamos, para enfrentarnos a la realidad, así no sea el momento perfecto, pero en realidad la vida no es para llevar es para comer aquí, como leí en alguna imagen una vez.

- You never finish healing, it is not linear, so live today:
A very wrong thought that I had and that I think most people adopt, is the fact that we always have to wait for a special moment to do something, or that we have to be completely stable, or completely happy, which is not true because life is not linear, healing is not linear, and living with the "when" is something that has limited me infinite times. That is, always being held back by thinking "when I feel good" "when I feel up" "when I have what I need" "when it is a special moment", without taking into account that any moment is good to live what we want, to start what we want, to face reality, even if it is not the perfect moment, but in reality life is not to take, it is to eat here, as I read in an image once.
Lo más importante que podemos regalar es nuestro tiempo, y lo más importante que debemos proteger es nuestra energía:
Hay veces en las que pensamos que tal vez no tenemos mucho que ofrecer, sin percatarnos que hay muchas cosas valiosas que nos pertenecen, como nuestro tiempo y nuestra energía, a las cuales normalmente no prestamos mucha atención, pero cuestan tanto como algo material. Vivimos entregándoles eso a las personas en todo momento y perderlas o desgastarlas es riesgoso para nuestra estabilidad. Hay que pensar en quién queremos invertir nuestro tiempo, y que esas personas también nos ofrezcan el suyo, mientras que con la energía debemos protegerla y no dársela a aquellos que les molesta vernos felices o que viven con un aura de amargura y descontento como si eso es lo que deseasen transmitir. En muchas ocasiones, para mí ha sido mejor no tomarme nada personal y guardar silencio ante situaciones o problemas en los que no quería verme involucrada, manteniéndome serena, y cuidando mi energía para personas que si merecen tiempo de calidad.

- The most important thing we can give away is our time, and the most important thing we must protect is our energy:
There are times when we think that maybe we don't have much to offer, without realizing that there are many valuable things that belong to us, such as our time and our energy, which we normally don't pay much attention to, but they cost as much as something material. We live giving them to people all the time and losing them or wearing them out is risky for our stability. We have to think about who we want to invest our time in, and that those people also offer us theirs, while with energy we must protect it and not give it to those who resent seeing us happy or who live with an aura of bitterness and discontent as if that is what they wish to transmit. On many occasions, for me it has been better not to take anything personally and keep silent in situations or problems in which I did not want to be involved, keeping myself serene, and taking care of my energy for people who do deserve quality time.
Hay que empezar a observar un poco más las pequeñas cosas que están a nuestro alrededor y dar gracias, ampliar la percepción siempre nos hace más conscientes y más agradecidos, la mayoría del tiempo pensamos a final del año en las metas que no cumplimos, en todo lo que salió mal, en las oportunidades que no se dieron o en cómo nos lastimaron, pero muy poco en lo que si recibimos, en lo que aprendimos, en lo que nos quedó para la posteridad...
Most of the time we think at the end of the year about the goals we did not achieve, about everything that went wrong, about the opportunities that were not given or about how we were hurt, but very little about what we did receive, about what we learned, about what we have left for posterity?
