When I feel overwhelmed, when everything seems to be going too fast or I feel saturated with thoughts and emotions like these days because of everything that has happened in this country, there is something I always turn to: my art kit of color and relaxation. My little book with beautiful and detailed drawings has become a silent refuge waiting patiently for me. I know it is there for me, just to accompany me when I need it most.
The first thing I do is open it calmly, without haste. I turn the pages one by one, like someone looking for a sign, a kind of encounter with what I am feeling. I don't always choose the most beautiful or the most elaborate drawing. What I look for is the one that moves me inside, the one that, without knowing why, awakens something in me. Sometimes it is a soft and delicate figure, sometimes a more abstract form, but there is always one that resonates with me at that moment.

Cuando me siento abrumada, cuando todo parece que va muy rápido o me siento saturada de pensamientos y emociones como en estos días por todo lo que ha ocurrido en este país, hay algo a lo que siempre recurro: mi kit de arte de color y relajación. Mi librito con dibujos hermosos y detallados se ha convertido en un refugio silencioso que me espera con paciencia. Sé que está ahí para mí, solo para acompañarme en el momento que más lo necesito.
Lo primero que hago es abrirlo con calma, sin prisa. Paso las páginas una a una, como quien busca una señal, una especie de encuentro con lo que estoy sintiendo. No siempre elijo el dibujo más bonito ni el más elaborado. Lo que busco es ese que me mueva por dentro, el que sin saber por qué, despierta algo en mí. A veces es una figura suave y delicada, otras veces una forma más abstracta, pero siempre hay uno que resuena conmigo en ese instante.

When I find it, I just let myself go. I take out my colors and markers, and start painting without thinking too much. I don't plan which shade will go where. I let my hand choose on its own. It's a very liberating feeling as if each line I fill with color is also a way of releasing what's inside me.
As I paint, I notice that my breathing slows down, that my thoughts stop racing. I disconnect from the outside noise and, little by little, also from the internal noise. I do not seek to make a perfect work, and sometimes the strokes are uneven, what I always seek is to be with myself in a kind and creative way. And when I finish, I don't always realize it right away, but something inside me has lightened.
Early this morning, I treated myself to this moment of relaxation and felt better, calmer and ready to go out to work with energy and good spirits. Since I have had this art kit with me, it has become my little medicine for my soul.
Cuando lo encuentro, simplemente me dejo llevar. Saco mis colores y marcadores, y empiezo a pintar sin pensar demasiado. No planifico qué tono va a ir en qué parte. Dejo que mi mano elija por sí sola. Es una sensación muy liberadora como si cada línea que voy llenando de color fuera también una forma de soltar lo que llevo dentro.
Mientras pinto, me doy cuenta de que mi respiración se hace más lenta, que mis pensamientos dejan de correr. Me desconecto del ruido exterior y, poco a poco, también del ruido interno. No busco hacer una obra perfecta, y a veces los trazos son desiguales, lo que busco siempre es estar conmigo misma de una forma amable y creativa. Y cuando termino, no siempre me doy cuenta de inmediato, pero algo dentro de mí se ha aligerado.
Esta mañana temprano, me regalé este momento de relajación y me sentí mejor, más calmada y lista para salir a trabajar con energía y buen ánimo. Desde que tengo este kit de arte conmigo, se ha convertido en mi pequeña medicina para mi alma.
