Ramadan brings with it a sense of joy and spiritual fulfillment, uniting millions across the world in fasting and devotion. Despite a late-night rest, I couldn’t afford to sleep in and was up by 4:30 AM as my alarm went off. Without delay, I performed ablution and joined my parents for Suhoor, the pre-dawn meal that must be completed before sunrise.
Once done, I made my way to the nearby mosque for Fajr prayers. Sleepiness lingered due to insufficient rest, prompting me to offer my prayers swiftly before heading back home for some more sleep. The second spell of rest ended at 9 AM, and skipping breakfast was no concern since fasting was already in progress. A refreshing shower followed before I set off for work.
At the office, a new initiative aimed at transforming our block into a cleaner and more hygienic space was launched. The assistant commissioner of the district visited as a guest to inaugurate the program, emphasizing the importance of sanitation and urging public cooperation. Since one of the legacy waste sites was located nearby, we proceeded there alongside sanitation workers to clear it.
The road where waste had accumulated holds significance as it leads to the shrine of Shaikh Noorudin Noorani Rehmat Ullah Alaih, frequently traveled by devotees throughout the year. Additionally, this route serves as the gateway to Yusmarg, a popular tourist destination, making its cleanliness even more crucial. The drive successfully cleared the site, restoring its aesthetic and hygienic value.
After participating in the sanitation initiative, I returned to the office to resume routine tasks. With the financial year nearing its close, the focus remained on ensuring full utilization of capital expenditure by March 31st. Processing bills and making payments to contractors for completed developmental projects occupied the entire day, as any lapse in fund allocation would bring accountability to the officials involved.
By the time work wrapped up, exhaustion had set in. Upon reaching home, I offered afternoon prayers before taking a moment to relax. The evening revolved around preparing for Iftar, and as the clock struck 6:38 PM, the fast was broken. Prayers followed, leading into a fulfilling dinner.
Later in the night, I dedicated time to reading Indian Polity by M. Laxmikant before calling it a day.
