We know Philly like Adam knew Eve. (Not literally, but you get the drift. And a position could be made that’s it’s more literal than We let on.)
Recorded while people-watching in Center City Philly we recall our youth of running these streets through the throngs of corporate employees that come to town daily on the commuter rails, grab their loot and escape to the suburbs before sun down. Except if there’s a “team happy hour” going down.
We’d like to generalize and state that Philly, (or any big city) hardens the psyche and it’s reflected in the countenance. There are staring games of chicken as people walk down the street. One can almost smell the fear, blended in with the lingering body odor of those in need of hygiene interventions. As there were no visual distractions during those school days, many folks kept their eyes cast down to avoid eye contact less they be accosted for spare change… or worse.
The vessel still maintains this residual programming. It’s honest. And it’s deep. “I get my Philly on,” all over the world. The locals must think I’m crazy. But if you know, you know. You might get a nod, a hand gesture, maybe even a “wassup.”
It’s Super Power Tuesday, coming to you from whence our super powers were crafted, honed, and never forgotten.
