Last Wednesday afternoon I received a very sad news and that was Chippi's already dead. I received that news just before our final midterm exam started, and I really broke down when I saw that message. I already sensed that he was unusually exhausted this week, and because of that we doubled our efforts in monitoring and feeding him every after two hours. We even set multiple alarms to avoid oversleeping and forgetting our duties. I checked on him before I went to our campus, but unfortunately, that became the last one because according to my mother, around 9:00 in the morning they found him already not breathing. My sister tried to cpr him gently with her finger but unfortunately, he's already dead.
I tried to lessen my sadness for a while with my after-school venture, but when I came home that sadness came back again. I immediately went to his favorite pillow and I saw it empty. I stood for a while just simply looking at his empty pillow, but it was not long before I felt something brushed against my ankle. I peered down and saw it was an unfamiliar kitten!
I stared at it, not knowing what to do, but when I snapped out I ran to our kitchen and asked my mother who was the owner of that new kitten and why he was here in our house. My mother answered that it was from the children of our neighboring house. Apparently, my mother was looking for Maning because she was going to feed them their lunch, so she asked the children playing nearby if they happened to see a white kitten. The children said yes and so they gave her the kitten. It jumped to her immediately and even when my mother went back, it still followed her inside our house.
I thought he would go back to where he came from tomorrow, but even up until now, he's in our house. It seems he became attached to us. He's the clingy type and often sleeps side by side with us, so this morning I decided to bathe him. It's a hot day, so I don't see any reason that would prevent me from doing so. First, I set the water and other stuff needed for his bath, and when I'm done I quickly bathe him.
Of 'course he struggled and retaliated as I poured water into his tiny body. He tried to go outside the basin where I bathed him, but I just quickened the bathing process and in less than 3 minutes, he was good to go. I immediately wrapped and hugged him and after wiping him I picked up the dead fleas in his wet fur. I even picked the still alive ones though they didn't stay that way long before I crushed them with my nails. Bathing him was brief and fun and while I was combing his white fur, I remembered Chippi.
What if he didn't die and he grew just like this kitten? Would he be as hyper as this chonky one?
After completely drying him, I fed him wet food and when afternoon came—like our other cats and kittens—he proceeded with his siesta. Perhaps that's only the time he stayed still and seeing how energetic he is when he's awake reminds me of Chippi. I know it's probably just because I missed Chippy that's why I keep seeing him in other kittens, but he really did remind me of him. However, I'm afraid to get attached to him, but I guess that wouldn't be possible because who wouldn't love this furry energy ball? Certainly not me.
