Ok Hivers with the hot summer weather in the UK recently I’ve been drinking Mor cider but as it’s chilled off a bit and started raining it’s time for a trip to the pub and one of my old favourites a pint of Doom Bar.
The draft pint of Doom went down very well with a burger and chips at the Hare & Hounds in Kingskerswell it’s not really a local but just a few miles down the road so it’s handy and the food is good.
The Hare & Hounds is a very popular pub with a large car park, beer garden, great in the summer. Locally it’s famous for its carvery and a pint of doom would go down well with that on a Sunday, but they also have a very good general menu it’s more of a foody pub and most people come for the food rather than the beer.
But enough of that what about the beer Doom Bar is brewed by the Sharps Brewery in Rock Cornwall. It’s a 4.3%ABV Amber Ale and gets its name from the infamous sand bar at the mouth of the river Camel Estuary. Besides draft in some pubs it’s available in cans or bottles at the supermarket and 5 ltr mini kegs are available on order from direct from the Sharps Brewery. Which is very handy for parties and BBQs one small down side is as it’s fresh beer the keg must be consumed in 5 days, or maybe that’s not really a down side😃. I might just order one for my week in Cornwall in September.
