A well deserved brew after an adventure with the Mrs. @handofzara on this #beersaturday.
Generally speaking, in July, after 10 am, just as the blazing Southern Sun begins to melt all hopes of a pleasant day, I prefer to remain in the coolness of the man cave only occasionally peering out through the curtains while thanking God that I remain in the man cave.
In fact, I consider any other way to spend my #beersaturday a slight breech of well established protocols. You would think after decades of marriage the Mrs. @handofzara would be less inclined to break years of well established rules!
Not today. Nope, the Mrs. @handofzara pronounced early this morning as I was working in the garden that we were going on an adventure with my daughter and her husband.
Lord have mercy, this woman is going to send me out to melt in the blazing North Carolina sun.
Perhaps, when she said adventure it was possibly to a brewery? Or maybe a winery (we have done that recently) or perhaps just some place indoors, where it is cool and out of the Sun.
Now I must say that when the Mrs. @handofzara takes the time to actually talk to me and declares WE ARE GOING . . . I long ago learned that we in fact are going to where ever she says we are going.
I consider this to be a small compromise, and key to our marital bliss. Especially, since the Mrs. @handofzara rarely wants to be seen with me in public and when we do socialize she gives me a long list of things I can and can not talk about.
I am beginning to think that she does not trust me in the realm of social graces. I will let you know what I really think on this issue after our 35th wedding anniversary which surprisingly closer at this point than our 30th wedding anniversary.
So to make a short story way too long, guess where I found myself at HIGH NOON in North Carolina with the Sun beating down on my old bald head?
On a fricking Kayak two miles away from where we put in and absolutely melting away into the lake. Not exactly what I had planned for the day, a plan I might add that was written when I was but a small boy forced to cut the grass in July after 10 am so as to not wake the neighbors. The plan is simple; after 10 am in July be somewhere cool and comfortable. Words to live by!
I must confess, but only here to you my HIVE friends, I had a blast and it was great hanging out with my daughter and her husband, even the Mrs. @handofzara gave my a smile and a wink!
Okay, I made the wink part up because she was wearing sunglasses but after 30+ years of marriage I know the smile that comes with a wink. A rare thing in my world. Just saying, I know the smile.
Some can art anyone?

I have a #beersaturday of asking a trivia question. The first person to answer correctly in the COMMENTS wins a BEER TOKEN!
QUESTION: The word KAYAK is not an English word. From which language does the word kayak originate?
Good luck and I will see y'all next #beersaturday provided that the Mrs. @handofzara does not melt me again in the hot North Carolina sun.
