Today I am going to review a very famous beer in India Kingfisher Ultra
Kingfisher is one of the most famous beer brands in India. Owned by United Breweries Ltd. Kingfisher family comprises of more than ten different varieties of beer. Varying from lager to premium this company has footsteps in all categories.
The beer was launched in 2009 as a premium lager beer is a hit in the Indian market. Priced at Rs. 140 ($2) for a can. However, the bottle and a pint are offered in Clear Glass bottles, of which I am not a fan of. According to me, in clear bottles sunlight affects the beer which creates a skunky smell in the beer. That basically kills the actual flavours of the beer and creates a foul smell. I normally prefer beer cans rather than bottles. The beer comes with an alcohol percentage of 4.7% ABV.
Let's pour it into a glass and take this further.
Aroma :
The beer has a pale golden colour much dense than these types of beer. Also, the head retention looks really good, has thick dense froth. I could smell corn and malts. Citrus was not something that I could make out.
Taste Test :
This has a very light taste and refreshing taste. Malts and rice are used in this beer that gives a really crispy taste to it. The dryness is there which makes you drink it more and more. With Alcohol level of 4.7% ABV, it is really sweet as compared to others in the category. Not much of flavours are used in this so I would say that it is a beginners beer. People who don't like a beer can start through it. Also, someone who is new to drinking can also start consuming it. If you're an avid beer drinker you might find this as really light.
What to Improve :
The beer carbonation process is pretty clear and you can taste it very easily. This is something the company should work on.
As it is a light beer this can be accompanied with spicy snacks. I think Peri-Peri would be the best flavour to have with.
