How are you? The weekend is here. The whole family is gathered, and we plant potatoes on a sunny spring morning. That was the main event of the day. Then everyone dispersed, and everyone had something of their own.
Since everything went according to plan, I'll have a beer now for 406 #beersaturday.
Lucky I always have an excuse for a beer :)
I have two interesting cans in the fridge, one Dutch and one French, which I'll gladly taste and share the experience with you.
First, the one with less alcohol.
Pietra Amber Lager
Brewed by Brasserie Pietra, Furiani, Corse France.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 6.0% ABV, IBU 26. It's an amber lager-style beer.
What do the Master Brewers say?
PIETRA is a specialty beer, of low fermentation. Using traditional methods it is brewed from selected malts and chestnut flour. The chestnuts used come from the highest chestnut grove in Europe, located in the Castagniccia, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. Every autumn the fruit is hand-picked, transported down the hill on donkeys and sorted by hand. This guarantees flour of a very high quality, from a totally natural environment. This recipe, unique in the world, gives PIETRA its conflicting taste accentuating a lingering subtle bitterness. Powerful and delicate, robust and smooth, displays a beautiful amber color, an intense chestnut head, dense and creamy, making the pleasure of tasting it all the more enjoyable.
Well, that's interesting. I don't remember having tried chestnut flour beer before.
The beer is clear and light amber. The head is considerable, and it is very creamy and persistent. It has no particular odor. It goes down the throat smoothly, and I taste a pleasant bitterness, a discreet sweetness, and a taste of chestnuts.
In the aftertaste, the chestnut flavor diminishes; there is a little more bitterness, but it all disappears quickly.
This is a very juicy and tasty beer! Nothing is added except chestnut flour, but the beer works harmoniously and smoothly. The overall impression is excellent. It is unavailable locally, except occasionally in the Spar Rudnik hypermarket in Ljubljana, at a reasonable price of β¬1.85. I should have one of these in my fridge.

Atlas Bier
Brewed by United Dutch Breweries, Breda, Noord-Brabant Netherlands.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 7.2% ABV, IBU N/A. It's a lager-style beer.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Atlas, our premium strong beer, is becoming a legend all by itself. Made from pure water, subtle malts, flavourful hops and⦠centuries of Dutch brewing expertise. Well-known for its rich, robust and powerful taste.
The beer is clear and light brown. The head is average and disappears quickly. It has no particular smell. The beer goes down the throat smoothly, and in the mouth, I first taste the biting sweetness of the alcohol, which is immediately masked by the bitterness of the hops and, perhaps, a hint of some herbs.
The hop bitterness continues in the aftertaste and then disappears.
The beer is drinkable, but that's all. I only felt alcohol and some bitterness, nothing else. One of the worst beers I have tried this year. I will definitely avoid this beer in the future.
