Hello Hivers π Another day for a new blog! I hope everyone has a great day π
The Deped Traditional Halad Dance is an annual event, dedicated to celebrating the feast of Sr. Sto. NiΓ±o every third Sunday of the month. Catholic teachers from Cebu City are invited to participate, while non-Catholic teachers have the option to fulfill school duties, excluding learners engaged in modular learning.
The day before the performance, teachers from South District 6, spanning both elementary and secondary levels, came together for a memorable practice session, creating a truly enriching experience for everyone involved.
The much-anticipated Deped Traditional Halad Dance arrived, and our excitement was palpable as we prepared for the presentation. Before the performance, participating teachers from South District 6 assembled in the gym for a final rehearsal and to acquire accessories like flowers and ribbons.
In the spirit of commemorating this special event, we captured memories through photos, cherishing the significance it held in both my life and the lives of my colleagues. Before heading to Basilica Church, we took grade-level photos, posing and savoring the joyful moment together.
Following our final rehearsal, we headed to Colon and made a quick stop at Metro to enjoy lunch with my fellow teachers. My meal included tempura, deep-fried squid roll, and hanging rice to ensure our stomachs were full for the upcoming dance performance.
Subsequently, we leisurely walked to the church. Upon our arrival, the warm sun enveloped the atmosphere, yet the fervent devotion of the attendees prevailed as they eagerly entered for the mass and prayer.
The candle-lit area was bustling with people offering their prayers and intentions to Sr. Sto NiΓ±o. Inside the main church, we participated in the mass before proceeding to present our dance.
A multitude of individuals attended the mass outdoors, equipped with their umbrellas to shield themselves from the scorching heat of the sun.
We captured moments with selfies alongside my co-teachers, while others sought a quiet space to unwind briefly. As the Deped Region VII Traditional Halad unfolded, commencing from South District through North District 1 to the final district, the eagerly awaited moment arrived.
Amid the sun's warmth, we were ready to showcase our dance for the annual Fiesta celebration. The performance, lasting three minutes, left us with a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment.
Immediately after the presentation, we returned home as the weather was too hot for strolls. Despite being drenched in sweat post-performance, the effort was worthwhile, and we felt a sense of accomplishment and honor. Truly, joining this annual traditional Halad Dance from Deped teaching and non-teaching personnel were timeless. It was indeed a tribute to the past, a celebration of the present, and a promise for the future.
Viva Pit Senyor Cebu City!
