It's tropical season here in the Philippines, and I cannot help but drool every time I see my favorite tropical fruits posted on Facebook. While these fruits can be bought in the supermarket but I prefer not to, because here in the countryside, every summer, these tropical fruits grow in such abundance that they practically knock at your doorsteps and say "Eat me!" without you spending a single cent. Haha. After all, a food that is free is always twice as sweet!
Just the other day, my cousin came to our house bringing one of my favorite kinds of Mango. We call this "Carabao Mango" because of its huge size compared to our typical Mango fruit here in the province.
I was extremely happy to receive the fruit as I've been craving this one for days. I thought he just got it somewhere nearby but I was surprise to learn that this Carabao Mango came all the way from Dumaguete (Negros Island). His brother-in-law brought some of this, and I was so happy that I got to taste one!
I decided to preserve the mango first and peel it the next day! Its skin was all green, but when I opened it, it was ripe inside already! And the smell! Oh my! That smell of Mango in our countryside is enough to wake up the sleepiest taste buds!Haha
I sliced it into thin pieces as I plan to eat it with Bagoong, or vinegar and chili! But in the end, I got lazy preparing its condiment, so I ate the mango straight from the plate!
Another favorite of mine was the "sinaguelas" (Spanish Plum), another tropical tree that only bears fruit during summer. I also got this the same day I had the mango! See, if we just manifest for blessings, then double blessings will come knocking on our door!
I got this from my sister, who happened to see kids selling these fruits. She bought this and brought some home since she knew all of us in the house love to eat this fruit!
This fruit is best paired with a pinch of salt. It's the perfect duo! But since my taste buds nowadays change due to my pregnancy, I can now eat sour fruits that I don't usually eat directly before. Nowadays, a little sour fruit like Sinegwelas and Mango is what my taste buds favor!
I savored every bite of the fruit while I was also making my blogs. I was completely satisfied with these fruits, and I'm extremely happy that I got these delicious fruits for free! Oh, how I love to always have this tropical delights every day! haha!
