My Entry to Hive Business Card Design Contest

For these past few days, I occasionally see the members of the community taking part in creating business card design that is planned to mass produce and distribute.

@acidyo mentioned the criteria in his post, where he also said that the testing community will be @hiveph.

I have no formal education when it comes to graphic design, but fortunately, I learned the basics of Adobe Photoshop during junior high school. Shout out to my ICT teacher! You are the best!

I experimented with editing, where most of the time I produce garbage output. This is why I am kind of hesitant to take part in this ongoing business card design. But, there's no bad on trying so I forced myself to get my ass working.

So, for the first step I need to conceptualize; what will be the theme, the design, and the approach.

For the theme, I think that being minimalistic will give an impression of professionalism. Also, being minimal won't be a sore to the eyes.

With minimalism in mind, the next I need to think about is the design. I came up with the idea of taking inspiration from the layout of modern credit cards. For me, this will give familiarity and will get the attention of anyone who will see it.

_{I used the color black and red to form a gradient effect.}

_{I put the logo and the word 'HIVE' at the upper left of the card. This is the typical placement of the brand name of credit cards.}

_{Just below the Hive logo, I placed the hiveonboard.com QR-Code. Thanks to this amazing website for making it possible to create a more personalized QR-Code.}

_{The texts its placement make it more enticing.}

I am quite having a hard time with what will I choose between this two.

_{I used an Elliptical Marque tool to add spherical shapes at the back and added motion blur to it. Personally, this is my favorite.}

_{I placed a 'blockchain' at the back. Thanks to Shubham Dhage for this amazing image. This looks great but I am not sure if this still looks minimalistic.}

In terms of approach, since the experiment community is Hive PH, I made the back of the business card more Filipino-ish but still with a minimalistic design.

_{I add the gradient I used at the front card but I set its opacity to 70% so the image at the background can still be seen.}

_{I put the QR-code of the Discord link of the Hive PH community. While I placed their social media below.}

_{Since the testing community is Hive PH, I decided to put Tagalog text which simply translates to "Come, join with us!"}

I finished creating my design in two days. Luckily, I am not busy with my academics so I have ample amount of time to edit. Hope you like it!
