I don't know how long since I last entered a classroom. 2 years? 3? I'm not sure. The last time I was in an actual class inside a room meant for learning, I was in 9th grade. The day after that, it was announced that COVID-19 was rapidly spreading in countries, in Philippines, hence the suspension of classes. That was dreadful, really. No one expected a virus so we never get to bid our farewell to each other. We parted ways with fear in our hearts that we'd get infected. I never got to experience learning in a classroom again, in my old school, because I transferred in a school that enables online learning in the city (I find modular learning very stressful).
Fast forward to the first day of full face to face classes, October 10.
I already found a comfortable boarding place to stay at near my school, already had my things transferred in the room after a hectic moving out, and made new friends with my boardmates (which are also in the same classes as mine). I woke up early the day of classes, around 6am where the water is freezing, because the bathroom will be full later as everyone (the student boardmates) have different class schedules. Better early than late even though I'd die of frostbite, right?! I had my breakfast, a sunny side up egg and a tortang talong I bought in a karenderia near my boarding house, and marched with my boardmates to school as it's just in a walking distance.
We arrived early, and hours passed in a blur when we chatted about random things. I learned a lot about them, which is an achievement, as I'm an extreme introvert and doesn't dwell much on long conversations.
It was later when the class started that we knew we will be divided into sets: the morning and afternoon classes. I was placed in the afternoon class which is great, because my boardmates slash classmates are also in the afternoon classes. The morning hours ended with just us trying to get to know each other with an 'Introduce Yourself'. ps. I loathe it.
Nothing much happened during the rest of the day. We were told that the actual lectures will start tomorrow.
On the second day of classes, in the afternoon classes that I'm in, we tackled the definition and what 'Earth and Life Science' is about. How earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago using a PowerPoint Presentation. It was fun, because of the new learning and because of being on a class since ages. I like how I'm perked up all throughout the duration of the class. My thirst for new knowledge intensified every minute that when our teacher said "That's all for today. Goodbye, class.", the feeling still felt surreal. It stayed with me when I closed my eyes that evening.
The rest of the days passed by with new knowledge stored in my brain. On Wednesday, a heavy storm visited in the city and gave freezing chills all over our bodies. We waited for it to stop or at least slow to drizzles because we don't have umbrellas. On Thursday, we were given additional reporting duties to be performed next week.
On friday, yesterday, we performed various physical exercises to warm up our bodies during the PE class.
I enjoyed the first week of classes, though I'm a bit anxious and worried for the reporting and research. I could only hope that my enjoyment will last for the rest of the semester. Wish me luck? XD
