It was just a normal weekday. It was after school when my sister, as usual, came to my workstation in the bedroom to ask for my help with her homework. She considers me as one of her teachers. As a teacher and her older sibling, I'm always there to lend her a hand.
After we finished discussing her homework, I insisted on cleaning her bag. I once saw how disorganized and messy her bag was! The notebooks were chaotic and there were a lot of crumpled papers!
Here's a thing about me, I have this habit of organizing things when I feel like it. When it comes to bags, I like mine neat and clutter-free. Are you the type of person who also enjoys keeping things organized like I do?
It takes me back to my high school days when I used to organize my friends' bags. In there, I saw crumbled scratch papers and random things they picked up inside the classroom.
So, with that memory, I braced myself for the worst, and I was ready to face the mess inside my sister's bag. Right before I put the notebooks in my sister's bag, I noticed something.

What caught my eye from all the mess were these stacks of snacks. My sister carries a snack bag to school but this was something different. Turns out, these biscuits were part of a program called Project Feed by our city government to support public school students.
Every weekday, from Monday to Thursday, students in all public schools in Makati receive a scheduled snack. It's a nice initiative! On Mondays, they get a banana bar. Tuesdays, they have an oatmeal choco chip cookie. Wednesdays are for cheese muffins. Thursdays are all about the choco fudge brownie.

Here's the fascinating part, these snacks are not just ordinary cookies and bread. They're made from nutrient-rich root crops, so they provide the kids with real sustenance while they're in school. My sister vouches for their taste, her favorite is the choco fudge brownie!

But for her, Friday is fri-yay! On Fridays, they receive a can of mixed mango-pineapple juice. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture to show because my sister practically drinks it at school. That's how good it is!
These snacks given by the city government have a short shelf life and are good for a day or two only. I think it's all part of the plan to ensure the freshness and quality of the snacks.

Project Feed is really a commendable initiative by our city government to address the hunger issue among public school students.
I do hope that the city government continues this project in the next school year. Here's to a future where no student goes hungry!
Does your city have a program like this too?
