Every year we celebrate fiesta in our barangay as one of our Filipino customs and traditions. Our barangay will organize various activities for every fiesta as part of the town fiesta celebration. Last week it was a fiesta of barangay Ilihan in honor of their beloved saints. Therefore, the Ilihan Fiesta Committee organized various activities to make the celebration more festive and memorable. As part of the fiesta celebration, barangay Ilihan organized an activity called "The Pride of Ilihan". The activity was done to honor and recognize successful individuals in the barangay and those who excel in their endeavors and recently received awards and recognition in sports and academics. All who just recently graduated with honors were also given due recognition. Passers of the recent board examination were also also given recognition. The activity was the joint effort of all barangay officials of Ilihan, barangay health workers, and the public and private schools in the barangay. This activity commenced by acknowledging God and respecting our nation by singing the national anthem. After this was the welcome address by one of the barangay councilors followed by the welcome dance by the Hot Mama winners. Then it was followed by the awarding of awardees.
This activity truly motivates the youth of Barangay Ilihan to strive for the best. The activity was headed by the barangay officials of Ilihan and coordinated by our school and the private school in the barangay. As our contribution to the activity, we the teachers presented a dance number while our dance troupe showcased their amazing dance performance too. On the other hand, our IIS Martial Arts headed our School coach and also presented a Kata presentation. The learners from the private school also showed their cultural dance presentation. It was truly a successful activity brought about by the cooperation and support of all barangay officials and other stakeholders.
