We Filipinos are known for our culture of being hospitable, generous, and having strong family ties. We are noted for gathering our families when we have special occasions. We always loved to celebrate special occasions and prepare food for our family and friends. One of these occasions is celebrating one’s birthday. This is one way of thanking God for giving us the gift of life, making us healthy, and protecting us from harm and danger from day to today activities. It's nice to celebrate this special occasion in a way that is memorable and enjoyable. It should be celebrated with family, and friends in any way.
So, my dear hive friends, for today's blog, I will share the simple celebrations of my bother in law in his 48th birthday. Not all birthdays of my brother in law celebrated with his presence since he worked as a master mariner. He usually stayed here or at home for 4 to 6 months. It was in his 48th birthday (January 2) he was at home and declared a holiday, so the whole family celebrated with him. My sister decided to celebrate his birthday at the beach to unwind and relax while it was still a vacation.
The Venue
It was a holiday so it is expected that the beaches are full. It was like a feast that day. Many families gathered together that time to enjoy swimming. Despite of that my sister choose to celebrate her husband's birthday at the beach rather than at home. My sister booked a cottage at Halfmoon Beach, Remigio, Cebu. The beach was located at Poblacion, San Remigio, Cebu. It took 10 to 15 minutes to travel from home going to the Halfmoon. It was simple yet the beachfront is clean and spacious. Many beachgoers loved to visit this beach since it is affordable. The cottages were made of native materials like bamboo walls and a nipa roof. There's a spacious grilling area where you can grill your fish, meat, and other. A shower and comfort room was available for personal needs. As a whole, the venue is cool, relaxing, and refreshing.
The Foods
The foods we prepared were almost seafood. We have sea urchins, shells, fish, pork, bam-e, and lumpia. It was artistically arranged and served like a cake with candles to blue. Almost all the foods we had prepared were grilled. We are health conscious, so we prepared foods with fewer fats. Of course, a birthday celebration will not be complete without drinks for the boys.
Kayaking
To have fun, my sister rented a kayak for a cost of 200.OO pesos for 2 hours. Kayak is a narrow watercraft propelled by a double-bladed paddle. My kids enjoyed much in kayaking, even if they were still practicing the correct way of paddling kayak. If you paddle it the wrong way the kayak will traverse in the wrong direction. So they keep on practicing until they mastered kayaking.
Banana Boat Riding
A day will not be complete without riding a banana boat. A Banana boat is designed like a banana and managed by a little boat to take you on a tour around the beach. The fare for each person if you ride a banana boat is 100.00 pesos only. You must hold tight when riding a banana boat and wear a life vest for safety. My sister, brother-in-law, nephew, niece, and children rode a banana boat. When they reached far from the shoreline, they jumped and enjoyed swimming. They conquered their fair. Oh my God! They’re not afraid of what they were doing but at least they are all safe. They enjoyed riding the banana boat while I enjoyed watching and taking photos. Their experienced will last forever in their memories. We’re thankful to my sister and brother-in-law for letting us enjoy the beach during his 48th birthday celebration. We all wished for his good and the whole family and more blessings to share. We enjoyed our moments in swimming, kayaking, and boat riding on that day while keeping a stronger bond with the whole family.
That’s all for this blog. Thank you for sparing your time to read this. Enjoy and God bless!
