The joy of witnessing the losing and winning of your own university to the Olympic games is quite satisfying. The loud cheer of students echoed on several covered courts, buildings, multi-purpose halls, and fields that can be heard in every part of the campus. This STRASUC 2022 or Southern Tagalog Regional Association of State Universities and Colleges (STRASUC) Olympics was held at Cavite State University – Don Severino Delas Alas Campus which is at Indang, Cavite. I believed it has been 6 years since the last time our university hosted the said STRASUC.
There were 12 State Universities and Colleges that joined the Olympics. It was an awesome moment when I witnessed the 11 other universities enter the campus and I got goosebumps during the opening ceremony where all the 12 State Universities and Colleges were introduced one by one. These twelve state universities are Cavite State University, Batangas State University, Palawan State University, Laguna State Polytechnic University, Mindoro State University, Western Philippines University, University of the Philippines – Los Banos, University of Rizal System, Southern Luzon State University, Marinduque State College, Romblon State University, and Occidental Mindoro State College.

There are several gates you can enter the CvSU – Indang, and since the jeep, we used dropped off us in front of the dormitory buildings near the front gate of the school so there were plenty of students coming in and out. There were pine trees from the front gate to the middle of the campus. They are actually beautiful at night time. I appreciated the guards who thoroughly check the students’ IDs. To make sure there were no outsiders but since there is an Olympics being held, they lifted the regulation for a week until it finished.

The first game I watched was baseball. In fact, I had no idea how baseball worked, and I hadn’t played it before. I’m just with my friends, watching and cheering for our representatives. The field is vast, and you can literally feel the heat coming from the sun. The good thing about the campus is that it is an open field, and the wind is enough to freshen us up. I only watched baseball in an anime before called Major. Have you watched it before?

We didn’t finish the game since it will take a while. My friends are excited to watch other games as well so do I. We entered one of the covered courts in the university and we found the FUTSAL game. It was a women’s game so it was quite funny to watch. I do not know why there are players afraid to get hurt but so far, I enjoyed it. FUTSAL is a football game but it was played indoors and the space is quite smaller than the football itself.

We finished the FUTSAL game and it was around 12:20 pm when we decided to eat lunch. Since the canteen is quite far from the building, we were in. Then, I captured some beautiful buildings I loved at the university. So, this was the CON building or the College of Nursing. I’m not sure if it was, but as far as my knowledge goes, yes. There were spooky stories from this building, and you can read them on the pages of CvSU secret files on Facebook. I’m not sure if it still exists.

Next, since CvSU - Indang was originally an agriculture-based school way back then. It’s not surprising to see a lot of farms and gardens used to cultivate by Agriculture-related students. When I was in ninth grade, I thought I would be taking BS in Agriculture but the wind blew in another direction. I’ve taken the opposite which is a computer-related course. You’ll love the cold and windy atmosphere at the university. There are trees and plants scattered around.

One of the loudest cheers you can hear will be coming from either basketball or volleyball games. I watched the last game between CvSU and BatSU (not sure if it was them). The drum rolls are making the crowd hype whenever our campus scores over the opposing team. It was enjoyable watching them. What I don’t like is the smell coming from the crowd, especially from the people surrounding me. The covered court is hot and the wind is not properly ventilating so you can expect the smell stays quite a time. I decided to move to the gate so I can breathe nice air.

This was the baseball game, the women’s match. I could say that it was one of the most boring game matches I’ve watched for the whole day. The players are not energetic and the crowd is scattered around. As you can see, I was quite far from the field because I was lazy to watch. We stayed under the pine trees since it was windy and we were eating some snacks as well. The surrounding is spectacular sight and nighttime on campus is the best.

I had no idea that my friends are capturing my alone moments. I am urged to observe and look at the surroundings while being away from the crowd. So, when I found out that I had photos from them, I was intrigued. These two are the photos I can share here since other photos looked like I was a super introverted person. Olympics are best to watch, supporting your delegates, and winning is satisfying. Overall, the top-performing university is Palawan State University followed by Batangas State University and Cavite State University.
