One of the things I’ve truly enjoyed reflecting on lately is how much my fashion style has evolved over the years. A decade ago, my closet was filled with pops of color—bright reds, hot pinks, fiery oranges, and bold violets. Back then, I saw clothing as a fun way to showcase my vibrant and bubbly personality. Dressing in bold hues made me feel alive, expressive, and unapologetically me.
But just like life, fashion tastes also evolve with time. As I’ve grown older, my preferences have shifted toward earth-toned colors. Instead of gravitating to neon brights, I now find myself drawn to the calming, grounding tones of beige, brown, olive, cream, and muted shades. These colors feel effortless, timeless, and more aligned with the stage of life I’m in. They bring a quiet sophistication and a sense of balance that I didn’t quite appreciate in my twenties.
During my recent trip to Thailand, I had a little style moment that perfectly captured this evolution. In one of my favorite outfits from the trip, I wore a cute mint green crop top paired with khaki flare pants. It was simple yet chic, and I loved how the combination felt fresh, comfortable, and still reflective of my personality. The mint green added just the right touch of softness and playfulness, while the khaki pants kept the overall look grounded and versatile.
What I love most about embracing earth tones is how easy it is to mix and match. I can put together outfits without overthinking, and they always end up looking cohesive. At the same time, it doesn’t mean I’ve completely let go of colors. I still sprinkle them in now and then—just in a subtler, more refined way.
Looking back, I realize fashion is more than just clothes—it’s a mirror of how we change, grow, and express ourselves through the seasons of life. And right now, I’m loving the season I’m in.
