Hi! My name is Mary Grace Leonor, 23-year-old taking up of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Cavite State University-CCAT Campus. I am a graduating student, yay! And also, a pandemic baby because of the covid virus. When covid hit I was just a first-year student, and it is our 2nd semester when the suspension happened. During those days even though we had an online meeting I struggled so hard that I didn't learn anything at all. My mind can't focus, and a lot of distractions happened. I was diverted into making myself busy by helping my mom with our business which was a food business. After all those years, I didn't bother to practice or study coding. That is why I regretted doing that and now having a hard time but still, I am catching up with them this time. I described myself as a jolly and cheerful person even though I had bad times, still I overcome them. Achieving something even though it's small is still a big progress to step up, I am still proud of myself for becoming who I am today.
Let's talk about my passion and hobbies, shall we?
For me, passion is what takes my time the most. When I was a kid, my cousin used to take me to this internet cafe where she will play online games such as World of Warcraft or Dota. Me being an observant, I always observe and tell myself "Why do they make themselves so addicted to this game?" or "Why are they playing?". Time goes by, I am now the kid who plays and is addicted to that game they were playing. Playing that kind of game enhances your logical thinking it makes you smart, making strategies, planning and even helps you in making a decision. Thinking about what will happen next or the consequences of your actions.
For me, this kind of experience made a mark and that is why I chose to be a computer science, computer science focuses on the software side, unlike information technology which is broad they have hardware and software. Game development is a subject in a computer science course, and it took my interest even though I am not a curious cat, I search and surf the internet for possible outcomes on making a game online or offline. Seeing other students making a game especially an educational game that will help other students makes me shiver and happy at the same time. Because computer science as I said focuses on the software, so it contains a lot, when I say a lot, it means A LOT of coding. Different kinds of programming languages will encounter, study and use in making a game.
Talking about a game, I am the leader of our group and for a final subject, my professor picked my proposal game that has a genre of history. I chose history because it comes to my mind that they didn't take a lot of interest in teaching the history subject to be specific my game is all about the Philippine historical place. So that I can show and teach them about our Philippine history even though it talks about places still an important event happened in that place. The progress of my game is still lacking, because I was having a problem making the game more difficult even though its targets are 7-13 years old. Still, I know that if I finish this and defend it to the panels. I am proud of myself for making this progress, progress is progress small or big.
Reading is one of my hobbies I have a ton of books here that I can show to all of you or if you want to borrow it just ask and I will lend it to you! Romance tragedy is one of my favorite genres in books did I make myself a masochist? I think so. But because for me I don't believe in happy endings. I know happy endings happened and still a tragedy or a bad incident will happen afterward. That is why don't expect that you don't get disappointed. Making a good tear reading those books. Especially my favorite book is " A Bridge to Terabithia" I know that it is a children's book, but God knows! why I love this children's book is because this opened up my imagination and those happy moments with your friends still stuck and made you always think that "those are the good days".
And also shows up that every time your child has a passion you always support them, and it will make them confident at all times. Like Leslie, her parents supported her in everything she did! She is also a writer! In the book there is a scene where the teacher picked the most written-well essay and she picked it was about an underwater experience she never had and that is so cool, her imagination made them all up. Sad to say that Leslie died. Also did a lot of watching movies any genre will do for me as long as it took my interest, I will watch it. Especially when it comes to psychological thrillers super love it.
As a graduating student when it comes to finances, I can still handle myself. I started working at McDonald's since last 2021. I took the risk of working outside during the pandemic. Entering the industry is such a big step for me, meeting new friends and also maintaining and handling pressures around me. Having friends at work makes my work lighter because even though you and your co-workers feel tired, we just gaslight ourselves that we don't have a choice but to work here. To support our needs and see how much my salary paid off my hard work and sleepless nights. My shift is graveyard 12-6 am after my shift, I will be headed to school already because it starts at 7 am. I know it is too much for me but I don't have a choice.
Entering Hive is a new experience for me because I can now express myself and my thoughts through these blogs that I will write. My classmate and friend introduce me to Hive. Listening to him makes me wonder and pursue what I have missed which is writing. My friend @dennnmarc is a college friend of mine we went through problems, especially in school and also personally. Having Denn Marc as my support in making this blog is such a big help and I appreciate it. Denn and I used to write in read cash but I stopped writing in read cash because of our business. Still, I regretted and know that other purposes will come. I expect that this will be my steppingstone in making a blog and that will be known to others.
Having this community is such a pleasant surprise to me, you all welcome me with your big arms and accepted me.
