Christmas is indeed one of the jolliest season of the year. It is the time to unwind, have fun with family and friends. Most especially it is the season of love and giving.
I have been so busy lately most especially when I finally got my own class advisory. I have been bombarded with so much chores and takes as a class adviser.
Regardless of all the work that needs to be done, I still look forward to celebrations like Christmas parties where I can bond with my learners and enjoy the holidays with them.
We had a lot of preparations, from the design, the foods and so much more. Luckily, I have some of the best learners who are always ready to help me out on the preparations.
These were photos of me and my class's advisory had in the midst of designing our classroom. We designed it straight for two days in preparation for our upcoming Christmas party I also bought some bread and soda for everyone who helped out. It was a way for us to have a short breather while we continue our decorations. It was indeed such a fun experience.
Meanwhile, some of the girls were very busy packing the Lumpiang Shang Hai or the Filipino Springrolls. Lumping Shang Hai is a favorite Filipino dish especially during special occasions like having a Christmas party.
We also had the Filipino favorite dessert, mango float. Mango float is a famous dessert here in the Philippines which consists of layers of Graham biscuits, whipped cream and ripe mango. For us, we prefer to chill the condensed milk and all purpose cream first before we mixed it using our hand mixer. We just formed layers of graham biscuits, ripe mangoes, whipped cream and repeated the process until the container was full.
Working with my learners has been full of ease and full of fun since it was the perfect time for us to create a stronger bond. We talked about a lot of things while doing these chores and it was so much fun.
Just like any other parties, we also had an invitation card.
As it states there, “You are invited to PASKO SA UNITY 2024” and our theme is white and blue Christmas.
I really find it so nostalgic, because it is not that long time ago when it was my time to join Christmas parties at school and have fun with my classmates, but now I am the one hosting it as a class adviser. How time flies so fast indeed.
Fast forward to December 18, 2024. It was finally the day of our Christmas Party.
Everyone wore their best blue and white outfit and here is a photo of me and my class advisory, the Grade 12 Unity of Tuburan National High School (Tuburan, Cebu, Philippines).
Everyone looked so charming in their outfits and we were all so excited to begin and have fun.
Here are the foods we had for our Christmas Party 2024.
The lechon or the roasted whole pig will always be the center of attraction to any Filipino celebration. It represents joy and abundance, and for us Filipinos, it will always be a symbol of the spirit of celebration.
The table was properly prepared and designed so as the balloons which were all prepared by my learners who are under the TVL- Housekeeping strand.
We had some fried chicken, which is present to almost all occasions especially during Christmas parties. And yes, we cooked everything except for the lechon. We prepared everything and cooked all the dishes ourselves.
During our Christmas party, we also had a gallon of ice cream which was in a fruit salad flavor. It was too much for us, we gave out some ice cream to the other advisories who did not have any during that time. Christmas is the season for sharing indeed.
We also had a Filipino dish called ”paklay” which is a Visayan stew made of exotic cow and pig innards such as heart, liver and a tripe. It is one of the dishes we all love and it is free from the lechon order we made. We also ordered some buffalo wings.
My partner cooked this special bam-i or the Pancit Bisaya. Bam-i or pancit Bisaya is a Filipino noodle dish that originated in Cebu City. It consists of two types of noodles which is pancit canton and sotanghon. It is a Filipino favorite indeed!
For our fruits, we had some slices of water melon which helped us quench our thirst.
Some learners brought some penne pasta and sliced bread and shared it to everyone. What a kind gesture indeed.
Lumpiang Shang Hai. This is what my learners packed and it was cooked perfectly. Lumpiang Shang Hai is a mixture of pork, and other vegetables such as potatoes and carrots, wrapped in lumpia wrapper.
Mango Float. Here is the finished product of the mango float we made with my learners. It tasted so good.
After lunch, it was time for the games. I prepared a lot of games and prizes for everyone.
For the first game, the declared winner is the person who gets to eat the marshmallow first without using their hands.
Here is a photo of the winner and our host for the day, our class president. I have out a spaghetti pack as a prize. The prize is very timely for the upcoming Christmas celebration.
For the next game, we had Siomai, Siopao,Suman. Wherein the participants will randomly be passed the microphone and say these three words without any mistakes.
It must be said in order : “Siomai, Siopao, Suman”. It was such a fun game and we all laughed our hearts out.
There were two winners in the game and they both had their coffee mugs as prizes.
We had so many games during our Christmas party and here are the snippets.
We had a lot of games such as : Trip To Jerusalem, Bring Me, Charades, Pictionary, Game of Wits and so much more.
I am so happy to see my learners participate in all the activities I prepared for them and they were all so grateful for the prizes I gave them.
After all the games, we had an exchanging gift. The gifts wrapped were not lesser than one hundred peso.
It was not a typical exchanging of gifts where we placed numbers on the gifts, we read a story entitled Suing Santa, a left-right Christmas story.
After the exchanging of our gifts, we went outside to strike a pose at the Christmas design located in our classroom balcony.
After cleaning our classroom, we then headed to our house for an afterparty karaoke. It was so much fun! Hope my learners enjoyed the experience and had an unforgettable #PASKOSAUNITY2024.
Hope you all had fun during the holidays! Ciao! ♡🥂
