The Sinulog Festival, the biggest festival in Cebu City, Philippines, is highly anticipated by Cebuanos and visitors alike. This event is not only celebrated by locals from the city, but also by people from neighboring towns and cities, as well as international guests. The festival highlights the "Santo Niño" or the Child Jesus and features the "Sinulog" dance. During the festival, people light candles and offer prayers. There are also various activities and events that take place throughout the celebration.
As a devout follower of Senior Sto. Niño De Cebu, I make it a point to mark this occasion every year with my loved ones and family. The season serves as a reminder to express gratitude for all the blessings and graces we have received.
My Niño, during novena masses people bring their own Sto.Niños to raise and praise during the Batobalani sa Gugma. This celebration is in honor of Him.
Evidently, there are just so many devotees. And per day, there are novena masses held per hour beginning 5am until 7pm and every novena mass, the Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño De Cebu is full both inside and out. Imagine the number of devotees who always come here to join the novena mass. It is giving me goosebumps.
Holy Mass At Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño De Cebu - Cebu City Philippines
The Sinulog Festival will never be complete without the 9 days novena mass and I was glad we were able to join two novena masses in total. The Basilica is flocked with so much devotees as you can see in the photos.
Another highlight of the Sinulog Festival is the street dancing competition. It was held at Cebu City South Road Properties therefore everyone had to bear with the scorching heat of the sun.
Here are the snippets of the Sinulog Festival Street Dancing Contest Held at Cebu South Road Properties January 21,2024.
I really appreciate the efforts of these dancers and performers gracefully entertaining the crowd despite the immense heat. They still all did a good job.
The place was filled with so much vibrant colors and different festive music. It was just so much fun being able to celebrate Sinulog.
But since it was really too hot and my son was with me, we then went home because he did not had so much energy walking around under the scorching heat of the sun.
What a good way to celebrate the goodness of our beloved Sr. Sto. Niño indeed! Pit Senyor! Ciao!☺︎♡
