Election of officers is practiced as early as in primary school, and so as in high school. High school has an association called SSLG or Supreme Secondary Learner Government.
Just recently, we had an SSLG Election in our school. The process done was that the learners are obliged to vote just inside the classrooms and us class advisers are the ones responsible of supervising.
At early morning, the ballot and tally sheets were sent to my classroom and we began the voting as early as 9:00 am.
Each student was given voting sheets wherein they will shade the circle of the names asked for each position.
The learners vying for each position has good scholastic records and serve as good example to the learners they are the best among their entire class.
As they are encircling the names, I remind them to VOTE WISELY as per the hands of the school organizations lies on the hands of the SSLG since they are the parent organization among all organizations.
I remember during my elementary and high school years, I have always been running for positions for our SSLG also.
What we do is we roam room to room to campaign and write in Manila papers our vision and our proposed projects.
Experiencing SSLG is a real-life experience of life of being a politician. Doing election such as this trains them how to do proper voting during an actual election.
The learners really took their time and made sure to vote the most deserving ones. My class advisory had a hard time choosing which among which are the ones they will be voting since most all of them are really fit for the position they are running for.
After the learners casted their votes, they affixed their signatures and we immediately counted the votes and recorded it in the tally sheet.
It is a convenient thing to do and will make the process more convenient and faster because each room will just submit their tally sheets then the overall committee will be counting all the votes and declare the winner.
My class advisory participated well and they all castded their votes. Happy they are training themselves to be responsible voters.
To a peaceful election! Cheers!♡
