TL:DR:
- New tiers for the voteme system have been implemented.
- We have an onboarding session on Discord every 2nd week of the month.
Tiers for the #voteme channel have been implemented and roles will be rolled out for existing members.
The voting weights relative to how much @hivephilippines's voting value:
Regular members: 20%
Angkan Espiritu: 30%
Angkan Sirena: 40%
Angkan Diwata: 50%
Angkan Bakunawa: 60%
Inspired from the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore. These are the default vote values for the corresponding roles.
Disclaimer: This is still experimental and will be adjusted based on how often members use up the VP. A privilege and not a right.
By default, as long as you already have the member status, you already get access to the channel and with that privilege comes the ability to curate others using the community stake.
To get more out from the deal, raising your ranks would require being more active and useful for the community.
Anyone delegating 100 HP and above can get the Angkan Espiritu role. Note, you can't delegate your way through the ranks, anyone who is active can rank up without delegating straight to Angkan Sirena and Angkan Diwata just by being active and doing something useful for the community (no delegations needed).
The Exploit: If you have a higher rank, each time you trigger the bot, the post you triggered it on will have the same vote weight designated to your rank. So if you happen to be A Bakunawa, you can deliberately hand out 60% vote weights to multiple people.
This is the fastest way to drain the VP and making everyone else wait on queue. You can still do it out of good will of course, it's a case to case thing. This is part of the experiment I want to see, how far do members want to be mindful about community resource. Which one steps up to mind things for the better and which ones just want to maximize what they can get for free?
I have low expectations from the beginning of the experiment but doing this means I gave more chances to believe in the community to be responsible on how they use community stake in semi-decentralized form.
Every member can hand out votes to other community members as a form of support and also enjoy the community's support themselves. You don't need to be in a community curator role to make this work.
To get better rewards and be able to hand out more rewards for others, earn your reputation and do your part to make the community better than when you found it.
Angkan Sirena - Members that are active on discord, be a chatterbox or just get involved with people.
Angkan Diwata - Members who qualify for being Sirena but occasionally do more useful stuff for the community like promotions, active participation, and candidates for taking on management roles.
Angkan Bakunawa - Management roles, those who do more community organizing on top of what the other tiers lower are doing.
Here's the direction being built by these reward schemes, as more people join in the active circle of the community, there would be less resources available to share with for those that are enjoying the privileges just for existing with a label.
The fact that around 48/253 (18.9%) members are delegating, less than 8 people are active on a daily basis on discord and even far less on the blockchain level that try to connect with one another, I can tell which names I really want to go full support because these members are pulling in more weight in giving value to the community.
I also cleaned up the autovoting trails @hivephilippines has been subscribing and the same changes applied for @hiveph as remnants from the prefork era. It's going to take another set of weeks and probably a month to get new numbers on the bot to reflect those changes. If you want to know what the accounts have been voting on, you can use the !profile command to check on the community stake.
The short term goal is collecting more rewards to redistribute as prizes for community activities. Discord and on blockchain social games for the community are next on the agenda hopefully next month.
Anyone can say these measures are bad for the community because they look like gatekeeping but if you ask me where I should put my stake more, I'd say it's best to allocate more on the people that show up for the community and making it better. Delegators have access to a channel where I discuss some of the changes for feedback.
The funds are collected from portion of the delegation rewards the community receives and the post payouts. If you want to audit what this community is up to, it's written on the blockchain.
