"Hey hey my dear Hive friends, it's me again, your cutie blogger from the Philippines, @itsmejustine. How are you guys? I hope you're doing fine. And woww it is my 3rd time blogging, and I'm grateful that you guys haven't gotten tired of supporting me and reading my posts. Really appreciated, guys!"
June 16th, 2025. Is the first day of the class of my niece. And my niece, a tiny human wrecking ball of adorable energy, had decided my planned lazy summer morning was officially canceled. It was the first day of school for her and my siblings, a fact that had completely escaped my sleep-addled brain. College classes hadn't started yet – my own personal paradise of procrastination – but apparently, my niece's first day of Grade 3 didn't observe the same relaxed schedule.
My door flew open, and there she was—a glitter bomb in pigtails, practically radiating sunshine and new-school-supply awesome. "Tita!" she shrieked, her eyes way brighter than that crazy sparkly unicorn pencil case. "You promised!" You're taking me to school today!" Yeah, yeah, I think I vaguely remember a late-night promise. My bad.
The promise. Right. Vaguely, I remembered a conversation, a negotiation involving her need for a school escort (Lola was busy with Naomi, apparently), and my less-than-serious agreement. It had involved the words "blog material," a detail I'm sure she conveniently omitted in her enthusiastic reminder. "Tita, you'll take me to school tomorrow, right?" she'd asked. My response: "Sure, it'll be nice to get out of the house… and, you know, blog about it." Her reply: "You promised, Tita. No backing out!" Classic.
Suddenly, adulting hit me—hard. Okay, fine, adulting for a day. The responsibility thing was surprisingly heavy. Yeah, fun day.
June 16th, 2025: Auntie duty with my ridiculously cute niece, Dishenis, now officially a Grade 3 student. We were walking to school, and I hit her with the "Hey, photo op! Gotta send Mom proof you actually made it to school" line. She grinned, "Okay, okay! But me first!" And then she struck a pose. Seriously, the girl's got natural flair. I almost died laughing. The whole thing brought back a flood of memories – that first-day-of-school thrill, the excitement of a new lunchbox, the smell of fresh notebooks… Seeing Dishenis experience that same buzz was seriously heartwarming.
Snapping the pic, I felt this wave of gratitude. Being an aunt is pretty awesome, and sharing these little moments with her… well, it's the best. I sent the photo to her mom, and Dishenis practically glowed with pride. She knew her mom would see how grown-up and ready-for-school she looked. It was perfect.."
Walking Dishenis to school, it hit me—this place was my elementary school! Crazy how much it'd changed. Everything looked so… updated. So weird seeing my old school all gussied up. Bam! Suddenly, I was The rush of seeing everyone—a total flashback. This mix of the past and hanging out with Dishenis now. I actually laughed, remembering all the dumb stuff I pulled. Elementary school? Seriously, no biggie. Recess games and canteen snacks were our biggest problems.
As we approached to the school gate, and—wow—the waiting area is totally different! It was so dull before, but now it's all bright and cheerful!
We almost missed the flag ceremony—classic! But after that, it was back to class. I waited for Dishenis, watching everyone rush around. It totally reminded me of my own school days—the excitement, the friends, everything. And seeing her take her studies seriously? Made me so proud.
Lunch break at 11:20 AM—she was STARVING. She ate like a champ. We chatted, and she actually listened to her teacher! That totally made my day! Being her Tita is the best, even if it's just a little bit of her life.
Okay, that's all for now hive friends! I Hope you enjoyed the little sneak peek into our lives. Catch you next time! Thanks for reading—means a lot! Let me know what you think of this stuff!Your feedback keeps me going!
