Hello my dear Hivers!
This time, I’ll be sharing with you the origami we made for our role play!
It happened during our Panitikan semi-finals when our instructor told us that we had to do a role play. Our costume and backdrops were graded, and since I was grouped with super creative people who never back down from a challenge, we all agreed to buy colored paper and make origami leaves. I was one of the assigned members to help, and some of my groupmates also took the initiative.
By the way, we made mango leaves! The one who assigned me to this task had something important to do, so I just decided on the size and design of the leaves myself.
Here are the steps we followed:
We folded the cartolina several times to find the perfect and enough size. After folding, I used cardboard as a guide to make sure the shapes would be even.
I was the only one who made the pattern since my groupmates kept saying they didn’t know how. Thus, I ended up doing it alone. Thankfully, on my second attempt, I finally succeeded! We used dark green colored paper, which Kenneth (one of our groupmates) bought and it was the perfect color for leaves.
Once I finished the cardboard pattern, I began to use it as a template for cutting out the rest of the leaves. Next, I crossed the details on paper and started folding it back and forth, curling it bit by bit. Some of my groupmates were unable to make perfect leaves they said it was very difficult, so I did the folding all by myself.
Here are the leftover papers, we had a lot, right? But we didn’t waste them. I made another pattern for mini leaves using those scraps.
Here are the finished leaves! All of them looked so pretty, especially because they are all the same shape and color.
Minutes later, the one assigned to task was back to our group. When she saw the finished leaves, she commented on how small they were, saying they were supposed to be bigger since they were mango leaves, which are long and large. But since I already started making a lot of them, she agreed to stick with it and just told me to use a different pattern next time. So, we quickly folded more using Angelie’s colored paper, she’s my right hand when it comes to making things.
Since we already used up all the green cartolina, we switched to yellow, green colored paper. After making the new pattern, we finally had the finished ones, and they really looked like mango leaves so nice to look at!
As I was working and the time was running out (it was getting dark), I started thinking of ways to speed things up. I pressed the cut leaves using the cardboard and decided to fold them all at once, and it actually turned out perfectly!
And yes, that’s all for today’s blog, my dear Hivers!
Thanks for reading!
