Hi everyone! I’m Rhea Mel Besavilla, 18 years old and currently living in Brgy, Malingin, Bogo City, Cebu. I’m currently a 1st year college student taking up Bachelor of science major in Psychology at Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges.
So before I start I wanted to say that I am excited to be here to finally share my thoughts, experiences, and my passion with this amazing community. I been hearing from my friends about Hive for a while now, and I am very excited to finally take this opportunity and become an active member of this community.
The path of my life as a student and as the eldest daughter:
I am the eldest daughter in our small family, and I have a younger sibling named Felix Agathon Besavilla. As a firstborn, I had always felt the responsibility to work hard for my family because I want to help my parents who don’t have permanent jobs. This made me think how I could support them and I’d like to share my journey from elementary school to now.
During in my elementary days, I am not particularly focused on academics, I was more interested in games like Chinese garter, Flying Saucer, and Hide and Seek. But surprisingly, I still managed to receive an award for being an honor student during that time, but I’m not sure how I did it. I graduated from Bungaw Elementary School with an award of with honors, but I didn’t think much of it at the time since it felt like just a small achievement because I thought that I when I enter another school it will be just a piece of cake.
When I transferred to high school in DCMSTIS I began to feel pressure and fear of failure. Thankfully, I didn’t fail because I handled my studies well. As the years passed by, I was nominated as the vice president of the supreme student government in our school in Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Taytayan Integrated School and which was a significant opportunity for me since I’m very shy. That made me realize that I can do more and so I continued to study well and received another award for being an honor student.
Then suddenly a new challenge came, I transferred to a private school to pursue the STEM strand because my auntie encouraged me to take psychology. My relatives warned me that it would be a tough path, especially with subjects like calculus, chemistry, and research which intimidated me since I struggle with math and research. However, I studied well and graduated with high honors.
I can see that the awards I’ve earned make my parents proud, even while I take multiple responsibilities, including being in a romantic relationship. Balancing studies as the eldest child is definitely challenging, as everyone relies on me and expects a lot.
Life can be really tough especially as an eldest daughter of the family as everyone seems to depend on you, and I often find myself thinking about whether I should quit school to start working and help my parents. My mother assures me that they can fight and manage but I still worry about it.
And this is the reason why I am always looking for opportunities. I was looking for a platform where I could earn money just by sharing my experiences, travels, and photography. And I recently discovered Hive, thanks to @iamlovelykate for introducing me this wonderful community. She told me that the only thing I should do is to blog my entire day and my wonderful experiences throughout the day, she also told me to attend an orientation since it is the one of the requirement to be part of the hive community.
The orientation was led by miss @jeannmazing, she discussed the do’s and don’ts or rules that we should obey in the hive community. The orientation was helpful since it taught me to be mindful when it comes to writing in a positive attitude towards my intended audience.
Here on Hive, I want to share my passion for photography, cooking, traveling, and also my hobbies, which includes crocheting and creating flowers using fuzzy wires.
These are the things i crocheted as a beginner:
At first, crocheting was quite challenging for me since my hands weren't steady, and I got tired after just six attempts. I kept searching for beginner tutorials, and eventually, It took few hours and managed to do it perfectly. The reason I learned to crochet is to help me calm my mind, as I was feeling stressed and needed something to help me relieved. I also discovered making flowers using fuzzy wires. It was also an enjoyable activity since it's easy to make.
These are the flowers that I made using fuzzy wires as a beginner:
However, crocheting and making flowers aren't my only hobbies. I also enjoy biking around my neighborhood. The fresh breeze and the sounds of nature really lift up my spirit, and I do this every weekend. I also love listening to music while biking, especially songs by Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Paramore, Lady A, and etc., I can't quite recall some bands and singers. Their music always gets me and it has a healing effect even when I'm busy especially doing household chores, I always play their songs to help boost my mood.
Now I have shared my passion, I am now very excited to contribute to the growth of the Hive community by getting involved in blogging and supporting my fellow bloggers. I couldn’t wait to start this new chapter of my journey and connect with all of you. Let's explore the wonders of Hive together!
