Hi there everyone it’s me Rhea again. Today, I want to share a little story about how I made February 14 more special for my parents.
In the last week of January, I think about how to make February 14 more special for my parents, and all that kept coming was about handcrafted gifts. But I was stuck thinking what kind of handcrafted gift I should make. So I opened my phone, and tapped TikTok. The first video that popped up was a tutorial on how to make flowers with fuzzy wires. While I was watching, I think to myself that maybe I should buy fuzzy wires. I checked the TikTok Shop and saw that it was on sale and it is very affordable and there is no way I would miss that opportunity. In a moment, I added it to my cart, and as a first timer, I clicked on the 100 pcs random color option, believing those random colors would be just right for my flowers.
Days passed by, and finally, my order arrived. After opening it, I realized there were 10 pcs of each color, I immediately started to think that it was insufficient for my bouquet. But somehow, I managed to pull through. I started making it and it was so much fun since I made it while listening songs on Spotify. After 2 hours, I just made five flowers. I felt very proud of myself because they were so beautiful and nice. And so every day after class, I just work on it slowly and until my five flowers became eight flowers. Now, my flowers were looking great.
And then finally, on February 13, I wanted to make it more pretty, just like how I imagined. So after making the flowers, I rushed into the store to buy some bouquet wrappers. On my way back home, my mother saw me with the shopping some shopping bags but I avoided her not wanting to raise any suspicions. I went into my room and began ruffling the bouquet. I was out there searching some beginner tutorials about wrapping up flower bouquets. My mother kept asking me if I was preparing a flower bouquet, to which I responded and lied and said I wanted to sell flowers. And she went on to ask what should be my price range for the flowers, I told her that maybe it would be somewhere around 70-120 pesos for one bouquet. And surprisingly, I seemed to have convinced her.
I continued making bouquets until the night, from around 6 pm till 10 pm. It took such a long time since I was a first-timer. I put some dark chocolates and sweet candies into the bouquet to make it look even prettier and I also added some fairy lights. In spite of my exhaustion with pain behind and in my neck, it is still worth the shot. Hardly could I believe I had just discovered my hidden talent!
After that I put it on my closet just to hide it from my mother. Before I went to sleep, I just keep on thinking that how would my mother react when I give the flower bouquet to her, and then suddenly I got an idea, I put an alarm on my phone to wake at 6 am to surprise her, for by 8 am; she would be off to work. All I did was pray and hope she would like it. And the next morning, I woke up minutes before the alarm. I immediately jumped out of my bed and wished my lola and my auntie a Happy Valentine’s Day while giving them flower. They were so full with joy and thankfulness. And then when I saw my mother cooking our breakfast, I rushed into my room and get the flower into my closet. Then I got the flower bouquet, and told my father to give the bouquet to her. To be fair, I also gave my dad his favorite chips. My mom was so shocked and happy with the flower bouquet. She told me that's why I was so busy every day in my room, and my parents started laughing. I just kept thinking that their laughter and giggles are my favorite sounds to hear. I know they are really tired from their jobs, and that is why I continue to find ways to make them smile. My heart melted seeing them smiling, happy, laughing, and giggling at each other.
