When my officemates decided to form a yoga club, I joined out of curiosity—and a little encouragement from friends. We agreed to meet every other week and invite a yoga teacher to guide us through a practice session. At first, I thought it would just be a light form of exercise and a fun way to bond with colleagues, but it turned out to be so much more.
Before our first session, I took a trip to Decathlon to buy a yoga mat. I wasn’t picky—except for one thing: it had to be super grippy. Slipping during a downward dog was not something I wanted to experience. I found the perfect mat, one that felt secure under my hands and feet. It may sound silly, but this mat has quickly become one of my favorite purchases ever.
The sessions themselves have been surprisingly grounding. There's something calming about unrolling your mat in the middle of the workweek, letting go of spreadsheets and deadlines, and just focusing on breath and movement. Our teacher leads us with patience and encouragement, making sure each pose feels accessible even to beginners like me. And while I’m far from nailing a perfect crow pose, I’ve started to feel more connected with my body and breath.
What I love most is how yoga has brought a different kind of energy into our office space. It’s not just about flexibility or physical strength—it’s about presence. It’s about slowing down and giving yourself space to breathe, even if it’s just for an hour every other week.
Joining the yoga club has reminded me how powerful it is to try something new, especially when done in community. It’s more than a workout—it’s a moment of calm in the chaos, a pause we all seem to need. And yes, it helps when you have the grippiest mat in the room.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
