Natural calamities like typhoons are inevitable. Just like what I experienced this past few days with typhoon "Paeng" or its international name "Nalgae".
Hello Hivers! Hope you feeling good today and feel blessed despite the typhoon we witnessed.
On October 28, I was planning to surprise my husband on his birthday. He was on delivery with vegetables from Cebu City bound to the markets of the north and his final stop at Ilihan market. So, he'll be home by 7 p.m.
When an advisory was sent through our group chat, our municipality is under signal number 1. I felt disappointed since I have to go to Bogo City to purchase things for the surprise. To my eagerness, I went out despite the severe storm. I brought an umbrella, a purse, and two eco bags.
When I got there, I withdrew cash and walked to Jayson's Art for tarpaulin. Then, went to the grocery store, Goldilocks for cake, Alberto's pizza, Chooks To Go for Lechon manok, and then went back home. Don't you worry I was accompanied by the nanny's daughter, Maryvie, who helped me in carrying things out. While we traveled, I saw the road with so much water that it splashed through the vehicle.
As soon as we arrived at our residence, I felt nervous because I thought we couldn't cross the overflowing water on the road and the raging water that we have to pass before our house. Though we're wet, thank God, we made it and arrived home safely.
What were my preparations?
In a Tupperware container, I put all the fruits (in a can) but I drained it first. Then, I put a can of condensed milk, 2 All purpose Nestle creams, 1 box of Eden Cheese, and a pack of raisins and Viola! Fruit salad!
Next, was Bam-i, I prepared 5 cloves of garlic, 2 pieces of onion to minced, spring onion, cabbage, soy sauce, 1/4 of pork, and seasonings, and here we go, Bam-i!
I set up the tarpaulin with my kids and had a chance to take a photo before their father came.
Cracked a joke to the seller, "Just put from beautiful wife there, so he will laugh at it.
It's already past 5 p.m. so I have to set everything up. This time, I let Ate and Maryvie go home early because their house is far and no electricity due to the typhoon. I let them bring food for dinner and also my family (they can't come due to the flood being up to the hip). Now, I am just the only one who has to set everything up.
Before the current went out, I got a video call from his parents and children from the mountain barangay of Cebu City. It was just a quick video call due to a poor connection.
The moment we've been waiting for ✨
Don't mind his shirt t'was dirty and dried his sweat throughout the delivery but no worries, he always had a towel with him.
It's from quarter to 8 p.m. When he and his brother (his company in every delivery) arrived home safely. My son opened the door and I managed the cake for him and sang him a happy birthday song. It was just "us" who celebrated with him, no other visitors. He got teary-eyed when I saw him. Then hugged me tight, and thanked me for his surprise. I was a bit emotional then because of the weather and of course seeing him almost cry.
It was just a simple preparation yet fulfilling in a way that my husband appreciates all the effort I have exerted.
Happy 36th birthday my love! I know life is tough and struggle is real but we keep on going for the realization of our plans. We are always here to support you morally. Please be safe always in travel, Mi Amor.
Thank you for reading everyone and keep safe!
