Life lessons on how to hustle
I have always known work and hustling since I was a young boy. I helped in the small family farm we had back in the day, which means that I had to feed the chickens and clean after them, help with coconut harvest, help remove thick bushes and grass, pick ripe fruits from the trees, and all things related to farm-work - you know what I mean.
We also had a small sari-sari store where I learned the basics of accounting and bookkeeping. The house for rent and room rentals we had helped augment the family income but, more than that, it is where I learned about the power of compounding and wealth creation. This all happened before I even graduated in the elementary school's curriculum. I also worked hard to get good grades to get the "rewards" I wanted, which taught me that there is no free lunch in the world. I thoroughly enjoyed the BMX bike I was able to assemble from this and learned how to play the guitar the next year from another reward. Maybe that is where I caught the entrepreneurial bug.
Fast forward.... After entering university, I went on to work in a fast-food chain manning the chicken station. This is how I learned about the food business and how lucrative it is to be a restaurateur. I then transferred to DD, where I became obsessed with coffee and donuts; my friends and I learned about love and courtship during this time - not entirely sure how that happened but it did. LOL.
Choosing the face of the person who will represent the Philippines to the world 🤔
Today is the day we vote to elect the new president. And, even if we are still an infant democracy, I'm rooting for the Filipino people to show maturity in dealing with the gift of free choice, of freedom, and preserving it for the future. My two cents about it is: whoever we choose will be the face of the Philippines to the world. This person will either give us pride and honor in the world stage or horror and shame in front of other world leaders. To make things even more challenging, the pandemic, corruption in government, extreme poverty, economic decline, internal conflict, and a host of other problems beset the country will be the examination given to the new president. At stake will be the future of the Philippines and in the short-term lives will be lost if we make a mistake. Make no mistake about it: if we don't get it right people will die because of policy decisions and poor judgement by the leader. And that is a fact.
From Palaboy to Poly
Moving on to our furry friends, we have a new house pet named Poly. She was rescued by my wife a couple of days ago. The trip to the vet yesterday told us that she was only more than a year old. We thought that she was already a senior dog because of her appearance but that was not the case. The visit set us back a couple thousand pesos, but it was worth it. I'm excited to see her after finishing all the medicine given by the vet in a few week's time.

Poly had a high fever before going to the vet. She's gotten better afterwards.
RSG
It has not yet been a week of playing RSG and I'm already at Lvl. 17. Loving this game because it doesn't really need one to be present all the time. The Basic Singing Lesson and Guitar Lesson are set to one hour so I only need to click on the mission then go back to check after one hour - easy peasy. Just a short update that I wanted to include about #risingstargame in my lazy-day blog post. LOL.
Conclusion
To end, I don't really have day offs anymore. I have not had one since a decade ago because that's the life of a freelancer. What I do have are lazy-days, or days I do less or work in a cafe somewhere while enjoying green tea or iced caramel macchiato. If there was a beach nearby, then I wouldn't need lazy-days anymore because everyday will be a day worth hustling even more.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading. Have a nice day everyone. Love and peace.
