Stress can really affect your life. It may result from depression or emotional disturbance. If we don’t know how to avoid stress, it can damage our mind and body and may lead to our death. Do you let this happen to us?
Hello, dear Hivers! Welcome to my blog! I want to share with you now how I managed my time to make me stress-free as a school leader.
Multiple Roles and Functions of School Leaders
Being a school leader, I play multiple roles in school. I can be a grandmother to our school children, a mother, or a sister to my co-teachers. Sometimes, I can be a lawyer if there are times when problems cannot be solved within the classroom. Concerning our school projects, I play the role of an engineer.
I have to supervise the mason or the carpenter on how the repair or the construction is going on until it is accomplished.
A school is like a ship and we school heads are the captains. The ship goes on sailing through the supervision of the captain and wherever it goes lies on his/her hand until it reaches the seashore or its destination safely. As a school leader, the school also depends on how I manage it. It is my role and responsibility to provide instructional supervision to achieve our goal which aims to provide our learners with the Basic Education Curriculum and now changes to the “ Matagtag Curriculum”
How I Manage My Time Wisely to Avoid Stress
1. Plan or make a schedule for the activities you want to accomplish
You have to accomplish first the most urgent so that you will not run out of time.
2. Wake up early in the morning. Upon awakening, we should thank God for good health and a wonderful day.
Asking for blessings and guidance from Him throughout the day
3. Look around and set your eyes on the green plants and trees with green leaves even in just 2 minutes.
Looking at the green leaves will keep also your eyes relaxed.
4. Take breathing exercises in 16 counts followed by simple exercises in 2 minutes or more.
Breathing exercises can help us relax and release oxygen in the blood. There are some benefits we can get from breathing exercises and other forms of exercise. Generally, exercise makes our body healthy and strong.
5. Take a bath regularly.
Suggested time for taking a bath, if possible, early in the morning before breakfast. It makes you feel fresh, comfortable, and relaxed for the whole day.
6. Eat healthy foods.
Healthy foods can make your body strong and healthy.
7.Drink water for 6- 8 glasses every day.
Enough water is very important to our health. It maintains our body temperature.
Stress can be eliminated by drinking enough water.
8.Start your work with a greeting and a smile.
To build a strong relationship with your co-workers greet them with a smile.
This is one way to connect with them and your smile can make them sunshine all day.
So, we should wear our smile every day.
9.Building rapport with teachers while giving instructional supervision
One of my functions as school head is to provide instructional supervision to our teachers. This aims to give our teachers technical assistance to equip them on how to deliver instruction to our pupils. The establishment of rapport with teachers builds a strong relationship and promotes a harmonious relationship among us. Here in our station, Caduawan Elementary School, If I visit their classrooms, they will be informed ahead of time so that they can prepare already. I don’t want to stress them.
Human as we are, it’s normal that if someone visits us from a higher office and we are not informed ahead of time normally you feel a little bit nervous. That is why I always encourage my co-teachers to be always ready just in case there are other visitors aside from me who will visit their classrooms.
10.Getting together with co-workers during free time
During our free time, we enjoyed eating our lunch together. We talked about pleasant things or funny stories that led us to laugh sometimes. It is one way to relieve our stress.
11.Visiting the school garden after office work
Gardening is one of my hobbies that makes me stress-free. I love to visit our school garden every afternoon after office work. We have some plants in the school. Since we participated in the DepED banner project which is the “Gulayan sa Paaralan “ and the “SUGBUsog our teachers planted different kinds of vegetables. We have water spinach" kangkong", vine spinach "alugbati", beans, okra, tomato, pepper, eggplant, and moringa leaves"maluggay".
Wow! How I love to see the green leafy vegetables and the fruits. It's really a stress relieving for the whole day overworked.
Pretty Flowering Plants
I turned my attention to the flowers around me. It looks like they invited me to touch them and smell their fragrance. I felt so delighted seeing the beautiful flowers. I was so attracted by the radiant beauty of the daisy flowers and the aroma of a red rose.
Kinds of Ornamental Plants
Catching the sight of ornamental plants, makes me feel crazy. These plants caught the attention of some visitors who came to our school. Many of them have these plants already because some of my teachers gave them.
The Aglaonema plant, humbly grown on its pot in a pink colour, mesmerized me much. The Philodendron plant with tri- colors grasped also my attention. Standing near our school gate are the proud **Manao **plants grown in two pots with gigantic leaves that get the attention of passers-by. Oh, there is another view that flashed into my eyes, the dwarf
coconut tree with variegated Photos plant climbing on its trunk.
I'm not so familiar with other plants but I'm so grateful to all my teachers who exerted their efforts just to make our school so beautiful. It serves us as therapy and eases our burdens after the 8 hours of working with our learners.
My dear Hivers, that's all for today. I hope you will find time to read my blog and can give reflections on what you have read.
See you on my next blog. God bless!
