"Dagkot Kandila" is really well known. People often do it during occasions like fiestas, birthdays, and others. It is our tradition to light a candle along with a prayer to thank for blessings and good health, or to ask for a special favor. "Dagkot Kandila" is also described as a lighting candle ( a candle of offering).
Good day everyone! It's @mariajasmin, and I'm thrilled to share the very first thing we did when I , and Niño arrived at Bogo. We were very happy that what we had talked about was finally fulfilled despite the excuses that had occurred. Many things had happened while we were on our way to Bogo, and by then we had arrived.
We planned to go there on July 14. We had already discussed our possible destinations and where we would go first when we got there. Unfortunately, it was postponed due to reasonable excuses. But unexpectedly, all those excuses also didn't work because I was sick. When I got better, that was also the time when Niño was busy again, so our free time didn't really coincide.
But now, for this blog, I'll let you know how happy we are as we fulfilled that promise. Even though there are some unexpected things that prevented it from happening on the exact day we wanted, we are still happy and thankful that it finally happened after a week of delays . There is a significant distance between our homes. There are two barangays between our homes, so Niño picked me up so we could go together to our desired location. I also had returned some of his belongings so there was a purpose in him picking me up. We went straight to their place because that's where we had to park the motorbike and wait for a ride to Bogo. We rode a bajaj (bao bao) and the fare was 60 each. This one went straight to the church, unlike ceres that we still needed to ride a tricycle to get to the church. So since this was the first one to arrive, and the trip was direct, we immediately rode it because it might take longer if we waited for ceres.
It took more than 30 minutes before we arrived. And as soon as we got off the bajaj, we were surrounded by candle sellers. Since there were many candle sellers and many offering us to buy from them, we were confused about who to buy from. I was a little shocked because Niño bought a lot. He purchased twenty candles and paid with a total of two hundred pesos.
We headed first in a place located at Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Vincent Ferrer , which is also a Catholic church in Bogo. We spent enough time in our prayers, giving thanks for everything and allowing our wishes to come true. We can't always predict what obstacles we must face in order to reach what we desire. All we really need is patience as we await the right time .
After we did the "dagkot kandila" (lighting the candle), we decided to head to our next destination. We left happy, blessed, and with peace of mind for our next step because we had completed our first goal, which would also serve as our guide for our next destination.
Stay tuned for my next blog posts to find out the rest of our Bogo adventure, including some unexpected happenings, and how we handle those things and choose to understand, remain grateful and blessed. You already know what we did first when we arrived at Bogo, now get ready for more adventures that I'll share in my future blogs. Also, I want to end this with a quote.
