A pleasant day to all of you, Hivers! May this greeting finds you in a good mood. By the way, I am a new member here and I have felt nothing but ecstatic to be included in a sea of passionate writers that unites through shared goals and interests. I am very excited to dip my toes in this new adventure. I can't wait to share more on this platform.
ABOUT ME
I am Jill, 23 years old, Single. I am a fully-blooded Filipina and a full-time student in one of the best schools in Cebu City, Philippines. I'm in my last year in college and I'm taking up Bachelor of Science and Business Administration Major in Marketing Management. I am the youngest of two siblings and I'm proud to say that I am raised by a single mother. Seeing how my mother strives to give us the life we have right now is one of my main drives to be successful in the future.
Looking back in my younger years, everything I wanted to have was not served to me on a silver platter. Being a product of a broken family has never been easy. Due to my mother's aim to give us a beautiful future, she had to work from afar and left me and my sister in the care of our Aunts/ Grandparents. It was not easy to wait for how many months and days until you will be able to have your mother back in your arms again. I remember when I was in my elementary days, I would always wonder how it would feel to have both parents present in your school activities or just having them take care of you before you left your house to school. I have already accepted this fact and the circumstances have really made me so proud of my mother. She made me feel that she can be both—be my mother and father simultaneously. She worked so hard to provide for me and my sister's needs and never heard any single complaint from her. She never failed to instill good values in us and always reminded us to be kind regardless of how cruel the world is. She is our supermom and she deserves the credits of who I have become now.
As a student, I can say that I excel academically. I was a consistent honor from elementary up until I reached senior high school. During those phase, I met a lot of people from different walks of life and it was also the time I realized that I was not alone. Many students in my school were also raised by single mothers and that gave them an extra push to do better on their studies. During recognition days was my favorite, it is mainly because it's the moment that my mother would come home from the city to attend it. She would happily hang my medals around my neck and I knew she was also the happiest parent in the world. Those years are my highlights. Luckily, as I enter college my mother gets to be with us and doesn't have to work anymore. My sister finished her college degree and is of great help to us when it comes to finances. I also got a government scholarship that helps me in my college education to this day. I know I have a long way to go but I know no matter how bumpy the road is, I will always be that strong girl because I was raised by a strong woman. I owe most of my life to my mother and I will always be grateful to God that He gave me a mother like her.
MY PASSION/INTEREST/HOBBIES
One of the many things I love to be doing is reading. I am more into self-help books and truly, I was able to finish reading three books namely Tuesdays With Morrie, Downside Up and 101 Questions You Need To Ask in Your Twenties. Currently, I'm halfway to finish reading I Decided to Live as Me. There's so much wonder and wisdom when I expose myself in reading books. It allows me to explore different ideas from these amazing authors giving me a fresh grasp on the author's perspective.
I also have a strong interest in visiting beaches. I can really consider myself as an ocean/beach baby. I love it when my skin feels the sea breeze, the tanning I get after a few exposure to the sun and the calmness my soul gets from the sound of the waves. Going to beaches has always become my therapy and I am looking forward to visiting more soon.
I can also consider writing as one of my hobbies. I actually keep a journal where I can express everything that transpired to me each day. In writing, I use my notebook, sometimes I write on word docs and save it directly on Google drive. It's just nice to have something to look back through the lenses of your own writings.
MY PRIMARY REASON FOR JOINING HIVE
There are a couple of reasons why I decided to join Hive. Firstly is for me to build connections to individuals who have shared the same passion as I have. I know that this is not just a digital platform to publish any writings but there's more to it. It's composed of passionate people where I would have the privilege to connect, relate and be inspired from.
Secondly, I know this would be the best platform where I can showcase my writing skills and somehow improve and practice constantly. I know it's a little challenging but I guess there's no such thing as a challenge or difficult task if you are really passionate about what you are doing.

Most importantly, I joined this platform to showcase different stories and insights collected from my different experiences ranging from people, places or even from the learning I learned from the ranges of books I have already read. I just want to spread positivity and relatability that I know all of you guys can also relate to.
Truly, with all of these interests, I can make a great contribution on this platform.
HOW I GOT TO KNOW HIVE
Hive was not a known platform to me until @jeannmazing introduced it. She just got the recommendation from the people she knew and is on the platform to this day. The moment I heard what it is all about, my passion for writing reignites. It's also the moment when I realize that I wanted to be part of this community. Truly, on December 17, 2023 I attended the orientation at Workplace Cafe in Banawa, Cebu City. The orientation gives us more insights about Hive. Moreover, me and my co-attendees were well-received and well-welcomed. It makes us truly happy.

The orientation was spearheaded by sir @sirintoy.bugoy. It lasted for two hours, all the important details and information about Hive was discussed and tackled. It went so well that it reinforced my interest to join the platform and be one of its contributory members. I was then enlightened how amazing Hive is. The platform it holds really suits a passionate writer like me.
With that, I am so delighted to be here and be part of the growing Hivers. I can't wait to publish my contents soon and be one of the readers of yours too. Let's make this a space of support, sharing and connection for us all.
That's it. See you on my next blog.🙂
