I HATE TO SAY GOODBYE
Goodbye seems one of the saddest words your brain cells can impute. People come and go. So, to speak, quantum leaps begin in small steps. From the moment you start to be acquainted with that person, to faintly goodbye makes it the hardest. By the way, it is not saying goodbye but see you around then.
I have been in teaching for more than six years now, and I have been getting to know bosses or specifically school principals for some years. Mostly, in a few years, another boss will be installed in our school. Another adjustment is to perform to have unity, and eventually, unified decisions that provide equilibrium to all sectors include the stakeholders.
INSTALLMENT OF THE NEW SCHOOL PRINCIPAL THREE YEARS AGO
I did not know my school head well when installed in the latter three years ago. In short, I do not have any background as to what school she was in before. I only know that she was a parent of my husband's pupil. I did not expect that the kid, who was well-mannered and hard-working, was her son. Of course, we prepared a short program for welcoming her presence and a sign of embracing her with arms wide open in her new station.
HER FIRST DAY OF SERVICE
I remember on the first day of the meeting. She announced the winners of the Classroom Structuring Evaluation District Level. Luckily, I won second place among all Grade 9 Advisers of the entire District.
In addition, we tackled some matters that need to do in a period. Reports that involve not only students' education but also involving the community. It was a challenging one while battling the pandemic caused by COVID 19.
The paper works have changed. For me, to still provide education for our students despite the pandemic, our school head recommended some of us to become module writers, television and radio broadcasters. She was there all the time for updates on what to do. However, as time passed, I started to feel stressed because of the submission of the reports one after another. I had experienced the transition of work, far different from before. There were lots of delegations have been given to me. That even sometimes makes me do some research and all.
HOW DO THE DELEGATIONS HELP ME IN MY PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH?
Sometimes you will only understand things vividly when you sort things out. Why am I here? I am not a radio broadcaster, but my school head recommended I participate in the training. Did I ask her why me? Then she just smiled and said I have the potential. I know you can do it. Then I grab the opportunity to gain new knowledge beyond my job description. But wait, she recommended I become a district assessment writer. At the back of my mind, again, why me? Later on, I still accepted another opportunity.
Then a few months later, she assigned me to become one of the leaders of a school contest. I spent long hours of duty to reach the target. My brain told me, you are tired, but you cannot stop. I thought that was the only task I was assigned to accomplish. Henceforth, it continued until I found out strategies to finish everything.
They said that teachers are like rubber bands, stretchable and flexible.
MY SCHOOL HEAD'S DESPEDIDA PARTY
I was supposed to give a message to her, but I refused to. I stand on the podium sobbing while having the latter. I am an emotional person. So I chose to sit and watch my colleagues heartily share their sincere felicitation with her.
I just hugged her during our unity song as a sign of love. She gave me a lot of chances to develop myself as an educator and mold me as a person.
MY MESSAGE TO MA'AM JOY (SCHOOL PRINCIPAL)
You will always be in my heart, even if you are in another school. Thank you for believing in me even if I don't see it myself. Now I can say that I can do things beyond what I think I can't do. That is not a goodbye message because I know I can always see you around.🥰
GREATEST LIFE LESSONS FROM MY ENDEAVOR
Things may be complex at times. Little did I know that all the tasks given were part of my growth as a teacher and stabilizing my character even under pressure. Indeed, they were my training. I am always thankful to my superior for being motherly and pushing my capability and ability with the variety of tasks that could initially help the children at these trying times. Sometimes you will undergo pain to develop your character. If you refuse failures and heartaches, you'll hardly escalate what you can do more.
