"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all."
—Dale Carnegie
Last March 20, 2016, with so much hard work and determination, I graduated my degree in a Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Social Studies. It was the beginning of questioning myself about what I was going to do after graduation. I had two sisters enrolled in college and I can't sustain the finances anymore since I was done with my college with the help of the two scholarships that helped my parents send my sisters to school.
Yes, you got it right I had two scholarships. Those were working scholarships and CHED scholarships. I prayed so hard to get a job so that I could continue to help them. Thanks be to God for always being in my life in every endeavor. I had heard from a reliable source that San Roque Child Development School was in need of teacher. From this, I processed my requirements and then passed it as soon as I finished my application to San Roque Child Development and later that day I was informed of the interview.
I was nervous and at the same time excited about the notice. Gladly, I made it to finish the interview with trembling hands and knees. Right after the interview, another school was hiring and that was my alma mater. I also passed an application because I am not sure if I will be hired by San Roque Child Development. My goal was to hit two birds with one stone. The next morning, the Human Resources of the school sent a piece of information about the date for the entrance examination for teachers. I prepared myself for that day to happen. As the examination started, I was extremely nervous because the exam was literally long, and I assumed that I could not make it to pass.
As days passed, one of my friends was informed that he was the only applicant who was being hired by San Roque Child Development. I felt down at that time. So, I found a way to find a review center while waiting for the results of the school. And it turned out that Every Saturday and Sunday were my review days as I prepared myself for the Licensure Examination for Teachers. After a week, CRMC called me that I passed the entrance examination for teachers, and I was advised to meet at the office. With so much joy, I went to school as early as it was. And Last May 16, 2016, that was one of the happiest days of my life. A day that I signed my first day of the service in the private school. I was extremely happy because I could continue my sister's finances and also my review center.
To help with our finances for the boarding house, miscellaneous fees, and other school concerns for my two sisters, I continued my Home-Based tutorial Services every Monday to Friday. Quite tiring to do some tutorials after class on weekdays and have my review on Saturday and Sunday but that was the only way I could help my parents. I always prayed for good health because I felt so drained every now and then that time. And thanks be to God for the good health and showering me always with wisdom and knowledge.
Foundation Celebration
These were my colleagues!
This was my first ever activity as a teacher. We had an activity at school at that time. We celebrated the foundation day of CRMC. And I was assigned to handle our contestants from our department. I taught them some of the techniques of walking and posing. I wasn't good about pageantry, but I tried my best for our department because my department head believed in me. I was literally the yaya in their photo shoot. I brought all their things and had them with me. Quite tiring but it was all worth it.
I learned from them a lot and hopefully, they learned something from me too even if it was a little bit. I always see to it that our contestants can feel at home, and they can have whatever they want to be used during the show. So that, they can feel the support of our department.
A day before the Licensure Examination for Teachers
A month after the celebration of Foundation Day, there goes the Licensure Examination for Teachers. Trembling with the notion of examination as its finest. It was September 24, 2016, a day before the examination, we visited our School and room assignment so that we could be familiar with the road and the transportation we could ride. After the visitation, we directly went to SM Seaside to have some refreshments. Despite the nervousness, we managed to relax and enjoy the day.
Incentive Tour at Sitio Campuestohan, Talisay City, Negros Occidental
After the examination, back to reality the life of a teacher inside the classroom. Later that month while waiting for the result, the school gave an incentive tour. It happened to be one of my most unforgettable experiences. We went to Sitio Campuestohan, Talisay City, Negros Occidental. I had fun at the resort where I got the opportunity to witness the largest kingkong, the tallest dinosaur, and the biggest mammoth in the Philippines. I thanked the institution for that incentive tour. It helped my inner child enjoy watching those beautiful sculptures. If you happen to visit Negros Occidental, don't miss to experience the beauty of Campuestohan.
LET (Licensure Examination for Teachers) RESULT
And finally, the waiting game was over. It was November on the same year, one of my close friend called and told me that I passed the board exam. I was in awe and run to the school after being informed and told my colleagues about the result. We cried of gratefulness of that day and went to our mentors who became to be our co-teachers. The key to success had finally made.
Regional Schools Press Conference
I was once a coach for the School Press Conference straight to the Regional Schools Press Conference twice, held at Carcar City and Cebu City. Before the contest proper, we had a solidarity meeting together with the coaches of all regionThanks be to God for having contestants who were really intelligent which led me to go to other places. Through this, I was able to meet Mr. Leo Lastimosa, the news anchor in Central Visayas. We represented the City of Bogo Division.
Division Meet and Regional Meet
I was able to coach in Billiard and thankfully my contestant won and was able to compete in the regional meet. At the same time, the coach of Table Tennis Secondary Boys held at Bohol last 2018 and Dumaguete last 2019. I was extremely happy to have experienced such a field that I was not good at but able to compete regionally. Always prayed to God for guidance in every endeavor that I had met as I taught at a Private School. I thank all the event managers for the trust invested in me as a newbie in all fields I had been able to make.
Been in a private school for three wonderful years. A school that gave me the opportunity to go the extra mile and able to travel to different places. Hope I inspired you with my experiences and may God bless you. Let me end my blog with a quote.
