Desperdicio es una palabra fuerte, sin embargo, no encontramos una mejor para causar ruido hacia nuestro título y que quienes nos leen puedan hacer clic respecto a lo acá tratado. Quizás quepa mejor la palabra "sub-utilizado" y ella encerraría las distintas formas en la que el voto dentro de HIVE se usa ¿Por qué la preocupación? Una de las razones tiene que ver con una especie de TOC que hemos desarrollado, al verificar cuentas desconocidas que nos favorecen con su voto, con el fin de revisar sus feeds en búsqueda de personas que valga la pena seguir. Dicho esto, una de las consecuencias de ésta práctica es poder tener una idea más completa del uso del voto, pero he de advertir que tal comportamiento jamás nos convierte en especialistas de la materia, dada la dinámica siempre cambiante en las preferencias de los votantes. Así las cosas, comparto lo que nos hemos conseguido:

Waste is a strong word, however, we have not found a better one to make noise towards our title so that those who read us can click on what is being discussed here. Perhaps the word “underutilized” is a better word and it would encapsulate the different ways in which the vote within HIVE is used. One of the reasons has to do with a kind of OCD that we have developed, checking unknown accounts that favor us with their vote, in order to review their feeds in search of people worth following. That said, one of the consequences of this practice is to be able to have a more complete idea of the use of the vote, but I must warn that such behavior never makes us specialists in the matter, given the ever-changing dynamics of voter preferences. That being said, I share what we have achieved:

Porcentajes mal calculados: en efecto, los valores matemáticos no son el fuerte para la gran mayoría de los Hivers. Ésta afirmación se hace patente cuando observamos dueños con 500 HP o menos, votando con un porcentaje de menos de 100% de su poder de voto, echando a perder su oportunidad de recoger recompensas de curación más sustanciosas. Cuando se tiene tan poco HP, crecer es más difícil si usted rparte "votos en polvo" (todo aquel voto generador por debajo del valor 0.02). Votar con menos de 80% del poder de voto: muchos hivers no se miden e incurren en este error. Un "voting power" (VP) disminuído entrega menos valor al votado y le devuelve menos recompensas de curación. Por supuesto, no somos quien para indicar como votar, pero si podemos sugerir monitorear el VP con la finalidad de nunca bajar del 80%. Ésta recomendación es vital para quienes no han traspasado los 1500 HP y tiene que ver con el poder de recuperación en el valor del voto emitido (un 20% cada 24 horas). De ahí el porqué se recomienda votar 10 veces al 100% diario, para cuentas por debajo de la cantidad de HP indicado en el párrafo anterior.

Miscalculated percentages: Indeed, mathematical values are not the forte for the vast majority of Hivers. This statement becomes clear when we observe owners with 500 HP or less, voting with a percentage of less than 100% of their voting power, spoiling their chance to collect more substantial curation rewards. When you have so little HP, growing is more difficult if you distributes “dust votes” (any vote generator below a value of 0.02). Voting with less than 80% of the voting power: many hivers do not measure themselves and make this mistake. A decreased voting power (VP) delivers less value to the voter and returns less healing rewards. Of course, we are not the ones to indicate how to vote, but we can suggest to monitor the VP in order to never go below 80%. This recommendation is vital for those who have not exceeded 1500 HP and has to do with the power of recovery in the value of the vote cast (20% every 24 hours). Hence why it is recommended to vote 10 times at 100% daily, for accounts below the amount of HP indicated in the previous paragraph.
Cuentas con demasiado HP que no votan: No sé si esto tiene que ver con mantener el valor del token estable, pero nos hemos conseguido con un sin fin de cuentas con HP alto que no votan. La verdad no comprendo esto. Puede que sean inversores esperando un mejor momento, pero ¿que sentido tiene estacionar dinero y no permitir que crezca a razón del 8% APR? Intento explicarme a mí mismo y no le encuentro sentido. Por supuesto, una de las explicaciones sería la pérdida de llaves (Keys), pero esto jamás cubriría lo que sucede con tantas cuentas. Votar autores reconocidos: otra manera de desperdiciar el voto. Comprendemos la emoción generada por varios autores (entre quienes afortunadamente nos encontramos), pero no es menos cierto que las esperanzas de tantos hiver quienes comienzan, están en ser vistos. Como declaré una vez: "Las ballenas ya se ocupan de nosotros" (V.G.), entonces es mejor votar por los autores más nuevos con el fin de ayudarlos a crecer y no se desmotiven.

Accounts with too much HP that don't vote: I don't know if this has to do with keeping the token value stable, but we've gotten a lot of accounts with high HP that don't vote. I really don't understand this. Maybe they are investors waiting for a better time, but what is the point of parking money and not allowing it to grow at 8% APR? I try to explain it to myself and I can't make sense of it. Of course, one of the explanations would be the loss of keys, but that would never cover what happens with so many accounts. Voting recognized authors: another way of wasting the vote. We understand the emotion generated by several authors (among whom fortunately we find ourselves), but it is no less true that the hopes of so many of those who are starting out are in being seen. As I once stated: “The whales are already taking care of us” (V.G.), so it is better to vote for the newer authors in order to help them grow and not to demotivate them.
¿Se puede llegar a un consenso general sobre el uso del voto? Lo dudamos. La naturaleza inherente de descentralización, hace que los grupos tengan intereses distintos. Un ejemplo sobre esto es la propia comunidad @fulldeportes: ante la baja cantidad de autores escribiendo en el feed, hemos tomado la decisión de curar otras comunidades, con el fin de no desperdiciar el poder de voto. @sportstalksocial, @actifit, @hive-177745, @exhaust, @hive-109272 y @hiverun han sido favorecidas como comunidades legítimas en la cual, @fulldeportes invertirá parte de su VP siempre que este se encuentre por encima del 80%. Todas ellas dedicadas al deporte. Y así como operó tal decisión, lo mismo sucedería con el resto de las decisiones alrededor del voto. Is it possible to reach a general consensus on the use of the vote? We doubt it. The inherent nature of decentralization means that groups have different interests. An example about this is the @fulldeportes community itself: faced with the low amount of authors writing in the feed, we have taken the decision to curate other communities, in order not to waste voting power. @sportstalksocial, @actifit, @hive-177745, @exhaust, @hive-109272 and @hiverun have been favored as legitimate communities in which @fulldeportes will invest part of its VP as long as it is above 80%. All of them dedicated to sports. And just as such decision operated, the same would happen with the rest of the decisions around the vote.
