En el Goodyear Ballpark, ubicado en Glendale, AZ, no hay otro tema en el tapete sobre el que se escriba más allá del infielder Elly de la Cruz ¿La razón? Su espectacular primera temporada entra a lo que llamamos "la maldición del segundo año" y créanme cuando les digo que no es algo de pasar por alto. En el pasado muchas potenciales estrellas en el arranque de sus carreras, se diluyeron cuando los reflectores se apagaron luego de una prometedora primera campaña.

Los Rojos de Cincinnati se encuentran muy lejos de aquellos gloriosos años de la década del 70' cuando reinaban en la división central de la liga nacional. El año pasado, los Rojos pudieron al fin alcanzar récord positivo de 82 ganados y 80 perdidos, para jugar por encima de los .500, luego de mucho tiempo. Incluso estuvieron coqueteando con el último comodín disponible de la liga, hasta bien entrado septiembre. Solo que se desinflaron para ceder ante los Cachorros, quienes al final quedaron a un juego de pasar a la postemporada.
