La serie de la copa NASCAR corrió el pasado domingo 15 de Octubre de 2023 en el óvalo de Las Vegas, donde Kyle Larson venció a Christopher Bell en un final bastante cerrado, con tan solo una ventaja de 82 milésimas de segundo. Con en este triunfo, Larson logra también su pase a la ronda de 4 por el campeonato en Phoenix, donde querrá emular el campeonato logrado en el año 2021, luego de su regreso a la categoría, tras ser despedido del equipo Chip Ganassi Racing. Por suerte, todo es cuestión del pasado y Miyata Larson, como se le conoce al piloto del auto 5 Chevy de Hendrick Motorsports, se centrará en lograr su segundo campeonato en la serie mayor de NASCAR.
En la presente temporada Larson tiene 4 victorias, 14 tops 5, 17 tops 10, 1031 vueltas lideras, 7 segmentos ganados, además de siete abandonos, pero con el formato de los playoffs, Kyle se encuentra clasificado para la final, donde aquel piloto de los cuatro que termine adelante del otro, será el campeón de este 2023. Un polémica que se su citó en el pasado fin de semana fue la descalificación de Ryan Blaney de la carrera por una infracción en su auto, donde según NASCAR el amortiguador delantero izquierdo del auto de Blaney no cumplía con la longitud total especificada en el reglamento, por lo cual quedó en la última posición de la competencia.
Con esto Ryan quedaba a 56 puntos en el tan solo una victoria lo podría salvar de la eliminación. Ciertamente es un decisión controversial, donde todo el mundo del deporte motor más famoso de los Estados Unidos esta conmocionado, hay distintas opiniones pero ya la decisión está tomado y no creo que vaya a cambiar. En lo personal esto es bastante extraño, nunca lo había visto pasar en los 14 años que tengo viendo la categoría. En fin ya nada me sorprende, si esto le fuese ocurrido a un equipo chico, la sanción nunca fuese sido revertida.

Antes de comenzar con la carrera, como es habitual les voy a resumir un poco sobre las sesiones previas y los resultados de los pilotos más destacados.
