Like I will always say ‘What better gift can you gift anyone than the loving gift of Hive’. Looking back to the year 2021 and how this #Hive platform gave me a colorful meaning. I will be an ingrate if I don’t express my heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to everyone who made my journey worthwhile.
The year 2021 started with so many dreams, goals and wishes. I vividly remember writing my yearly goals and how I expected so much. I tagged 2021 as “My year of personal growth”. One of my strengths is planning and strategic thinking, so, I never had issues putting pen on paper.
The year started on a silent note. It wasn’t an easy start for us here especially because of the Covid-19 pandemic and how it affected various activities like schooling, work and my free movement. I kept myself busy throughout the Covid-19 period by working together with two of my friends on a business start-up.
We entered a global business pitch competition called HULTPRIZE. Our business idea was first wrapped around solving agricultural problems by bridging the huge gap between farmers and consumers. This was around January as we qualified for the Regional phase after emerging 2nd place from the Campus stage.
This was really a challenging phase for us all especially for me as the team lead. I had the burden of organizing meetings, ensuring tasks given are accomplished and representing the team well. The fun part was we were all students with little knowledge on business start-ups so we had to do a lot of on-the-go learning.
School resumed early February with its usual workloads. This time, my university had decided to start Virtual learning which was a very new process to us all. The major problem we faced was that our lecturers exploited the new system and became lazy. Some dropped just reading notes late during the semester while others uploaded short and confusing videos that wasn’t helpful. This affected all student because it meant we had to do more self-study, read wide, burn internet data to keep up with unnecessary and boring online classes. This kept on going with no system in place to put things in check. Some student dropped out while most had bad results but who are we to complain? Like they say, Nigeria’s university system is not for the weak. Their own way of covering the many lacks and loopholes in our educational system.
Fast forward to the month of May, weeks after my birthday when I finally ended a relationship of over a year. No matter how much I tried to act macho and strong, deep down it was a painful one. I called off the relationship because it got to a point where it became toxic. The truth is, we had infidelity issues and I felt what was the need to continue with someone I could barely trust after giving all I could. It was a huge blessing in disguise because I could now focus on my growth and School too.
Enough of the sad stories, yeah🤗

I took some professional online courses on Linkedin learning such as Social media Marketing, Content marketing, Marketing on Facebook and even Google Africa free Digital Marketing course. I also got my certificate of participation from Google Africa Developers Scholarship program (GADS). This was a huge feat for me as I have always loved to code and the marketing for me was an opportunity to hone and channel my planning and strategy skills. I did a month internship with an AI Tech company as an Intern. It was fun having to learn more and meet professionals in the field too.
On a brighter side, I made lots of new friends though at some point I had to redefine certain relationship.
