Antier fue día de descanso total. En efecto, luego de los días agitados por el movimiento de trabajo, estuvimos en el apartamento todo el día. @tsunsica, @arlettemsalase y yo conversamos mucho, intercambiamos pensamientos alrededor del evento y valoramos las conexiones hechas durante el networking. Concluímos ha sido todo un éxito. Sin poder comparar Colombia con Perú, dado que la naturaleza de ambas experiencias fueron desiguales, puntualizamos la necesidad de que nuestro ecosistema siga invirtiendo en los sponsors de eventos que nos proyecten.
Entretanto, @kathajimenezr preparó maleta y partió ese mismo día de regreso a Venezuela. Un largo periplo dado que hizo el viaje en dos tramos: por avión desde Bogotá a Riohacha y por tierra desde la población colombiana hasta Valencia con parada en Maracaibo. Llegó sin novedad a su casa. Acá en la capital de la república hermana, nos acostamos a dormir habiendo decidido salir ayer para pasear y conocer algún punto turístico de la ciudad.

The day before yesterday was a day of total rest. Indeed, after the hectic days of work movement, we were at the apartment all day. @tsunsica, @arlettemsalase, and I talked a lot, exchanged thoughts about the event, and appreciated the connections made during the networking. We concluded that it was a success. Without being able to compare Colombia with Peru, since the nature of both experiences was unequal, we pointed out the need for our ecosystem to continue investing in event sponsors that project us.
Meanwhile, @kathajimenezr packed her suitcase and left that same day back to Venezuela. A long journey since she made the trip on two legs: by plane from Bogota to Riohacha and by land from the Colombian town to Valencia with a stop in Maracaibo. He arrived home safely. Here in the capital of the sister republic, we went to bed to sleep having decided to go out yesterday to walk around and visit some tourist spots in the city.
Ayer nos levantamos temprano y nos tropezamos con algo imprevisto: era día feriado nacional y la todos los museos de la ciudad estarían cerrados. Habíamos decidido conocer el Museo del Oro y el Museo de Botero, pero fallamos en el intento. @arlettemsalase se decepcionó y no quiso salir, mientras, @tunsica y yo decidimos aventurar al cerro de Monserrate, un ícono bogotano. Nos dijimos que si no estaba abierto, iríamos a un centro comercial para ahogar nuestra mala suerte.
El transporte público de Bogotá es eficiente, pero por alguna razón el autobús de la ruta que nos dejaba al frente del cerro, nunca pasó por la parada. 45 minutos estuvimos esperando hasta que decidimos alquilar un taxi Uber que nos llevaría por $6 hasta nuestro destino. Una vez allí, hicimos la fila para subir por teleférico hasta el santuario de nuestro señor de Monserrate. Cada boleto de dos trayectos (subida y bajada) cuesta $7 y puedes escoger subir por teleférico y bajar en funicular o viceversa.

Yesterday we woke up early and stumbled upon something unforeseen: it was a national holiday and all the museums in the city would be closed. We had decided to visit the Gold Museum and the Botero Museum, but we failed. @arlettemsalase was disappointed and didn't want to go out, while @tunsica and I decided to venture to Monserrate Hill, a Bogota icon. We told ourselves that if it weren't open, we'd go to a mall to drown our bad luck.
Bogota's public transportation is efficient, but for some reason, the bus on the route that was to drop us off in front of the hill, never passed by the stop. We waited for 45 minutes until we decided to hire an Uber cab that would take us for $6 to our destination. Once there, we lined up to take the cable car up to the sanctuary of our Lord of Monserrate. Each two-way ticket (up and down) costs $7 and you can choose to go up by cable car and go down by funicular or vice versa.

Una vez arriba, la vista es espectacular, siempre y cuando las nubes no entorpezcan la escena. Tuvimos suerte porque la primera parte de nuestra visita fue soleada. Aún así, llegó la neblina propia de las alturas. Por ello verán la mayoría de nuestras imágenes signadas por las nubes. Una recomendación cuando estés arriba es andar con calma. Dado que Bogotá se encuentra a gran altura y escasea el oxígeno; tal condición empeora cuando subes al cerro. Así que nada de caminatas vigorosas por riesgo de contraer "mal de las alturas"
La catedral dedicada al cristo es impresionante. El sitio enclavado en la montaña tiene bellas jardinerías. Muchos pájaros acuden al lugar y se nota el paisajismo es cuidado y mantenido. La cortesía de los empleados es proverbial, muchos turistas internacionales se mezclan con el turista local. Tuvimos mucha suerte porque es la tercera vez que subo aquí y no hicimos nada de fila. Tal vez por ser un día feriado, el bogotano decidió descansar.

Once at the top, the view is spectacular, as long as the clouds do not obstruct the scene. We were lucky because the first part of our visit was sunny. Even so, the haze of the heights arrived. That is why you will see most of our images marked by clouds. One recommendation when you are up there is to walk calmly. Since Bogota is at a high altitude and oxygen is scarce, this condition worsens when you go up the hill. So no strenuous walking for risk of getting "altitude sickness".
The cathedral dedicated to the Christ is impressive. The site nestled in the mountains has beautiful gardens. Many birds flock to the site and you can see that the landscaping is well maintained and cared for. The courtesy of the staff is proverbial, many international tourists mingle with the local tourist. We were very lucky because this is the third time I've been up here and we didn't wait in line at all. Perhaps because it was a holiday, the Bogotano decided to rest.
Cuando viajo, procuro ahorrar al máximo los recursos del presupuesto, pero siempre me hago un regalo en un restaurante de categoría mundial. Ésta vez, el favorecido en nuestra escogencia fortuita fue el Restaurante Santa Clara. Una carta aderezada por comida de autor, colombiana, con toques extranjeros en sus sabores. @tsunsica y yo degustamos una bandeja Paisa y un arroz apastelado, respectivamente. Luego pedimos de postre queso de cabra bañado en salsa de guayaba y pedacitos de bocadillo, ¡Exquisito!
Subimos por teleférico y bajamos por el funicular. Dos medios de transporte diferentes. Un animado grupo de dominicanos acompaño nuestro descenso y bromas aparte, demostraron porqué es una de las nacionalidades más animadas del caribe. Un paseo diferente y espectacular, lo hemos incorporado al baúl de recuerdos y espero disfrute mi lector la fotografía, tanto como nosotros de ésta nueva experiencia. Nos leemos por allí.

When I travel, I try to save as much of my budget as possible, but I always treat myself to a world-class restaurant. This time, the favored one in our fortuitous choice was the Santa Clara Restaurant. A menu seasoned with signature Colombian food, with foreign touches in its flavors. @tsunsica and I tasted a Paisa platter and a rice apastelado, respectively. Then for dessert, we ordered goat cheese dipped in guava sauce and bits of sandwich, delicious!
We went up by cable car and down by funicular—two different means of transportation. A lively group of Dominicans accompanied our descent and jokes aside, they demonstrated why it is one of the liveliest nationalities in the Caribbean. A different and spectacular ride, we have incorporated it into the trunk of memories and I hope my reader enjoys the photograph, as much as we enjoy this new experience. See you there.
