Something I like about Hive is when the friendships we form here manage to go beyond the screens and become something concrete in real life. I experienced this when we did our first Hive Meet Up in Argentina almost three years ago, and then in small casual meetings we had with some colleagues in the city of Buenos Aires. Meeting local people is great, but Hive connects you with people from all over the world, who even if they are a bit far away, can be present with different proofs of affection and appreciation ❤️.
Algo que me gusta de Hive es cuando las amistades que formamos acá logran traspasar las pantallas y se vuelven algo concreto en la vida real. Esto lo experimenté cuando hicimos nuestro primer Hive Meet Up en Argentina hace casi tres años, y luego en pequeñas reuniones casuales que tuvimos con algunos compañeros en la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Conocer gente local es genial, pero Hive te conecta con gente de todo el mundo, que aunque estén un poco lejos, pueden hacerse presentes con diversas muestras de cariño y aprecio ❤️.
Soon, it will be one year since the formation of Worldmappin and I was lucky that @lizanomadsoul and @detlev made me part of the new team. We've been working hard since then, curating great travel posts added to the map on a daily basis, plus a lot of behind-the-scenes work and promotion of the project. A few months ago, they told me they had a gift prepared for me for me for being part of the team and it was coming from Germany :) I had never had an international shipment before so I had to wait patiently for two months or more until it finally arrived in Argentina.
Pronto se cumplirá un año de la formación de Worldmappin y tuve la suerte de que @lizanomadsoul y @detlev me hicieran parte del nuevo equipo. Hemos trabajado mucho desde entonces, curando diariamente excelentes publicaciones de viajes añadidas al mapa, además de mucho trabajo detrás de escena y promoción del proyecto. Hace unos meses, ellos me dijeron que tenían un regalo preparado para mí por ser parte del equipo y que llegaría nada más y nada menos que desde Alemania :) Nunca me habían hecho un envío internacional así que me tocó esperar pacientemente como dos meses o más hasta que finalmente llegó a Argentina.
This little box had to travel more than 11,000 kilometres to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego. As if that wasn't enough, I was in the farthest city I could be in Argentina, but it still made it. I know other members of the Worldmappin team are also waiting for their boxes, so I'm not going to show all the cool stuff that came in it, but I'm going to show the hoodie because I loved it. Besides, it came in handy for the freezing weather in Ushuaia and to change my outfit a bit, as in this backpacking life I don't have that many clothes with me.
Esta cajita tuvo que hacer una travesía de más de 11 mil kilómetros hasta llegar a Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego. Como si fuera poco, yo estaba en la ciudad más alejada que podría estar en Argentina, pero igualmente logró llegar. Sé que otros miembros del equipo de Worldmappin también están esperando sus cajas, así que no voy a mostrar todas las cosas geniales que llegaron en ella, pero si el buzo porque me encantó. Además, me vino bien para el clima helado de Ushuaia y para cambiar un poco de outfit, ya que en esta vida de mochilera no tengo tanta ropa conmigo.
In the box also came some beautiful stickers to leave the proof of stay in every place where I'm walking around. The same day the box arrived, in the afternoon I went for a walk in the city centre, because I already knew the perfect places where to leave my new stickers. One of them was the square in front of the commercial port, where the signs indicating the distances to the Islas Malvinas, Buenos Aires and La Quiaca are located. And of course I wore my hoodie for the photo 😃.
En la caja también vinieron unos stickers hermosos para ir dejando la prueba de paso por cada lugar en el que esté de paseo. El mismo día que la caja llegó, por la tarde salí a dar una vuelta por el centro de la ciudad, porque ya sabía los lugares perfectos en donde dejar mis nuevos stickers. Uno de ellos era la plaza frente al puerto comercial, en donde están los carteles que indican las distancias a las Islas Malvinas, Buenos Aires y La Quiaca. Y por supuesto que llevé el buzo para la foto 😃.
Although the municipality of Ushuaia makes a great effort to remove the stickers that travellers put on the signs, this is almost impossible to maintain. Imagine that day after day hundreds of travellers arrive in the city at the end of the world, who of course want to leave their mark for the photo. Another witness of this is the Ushuaia sign at the port, which I had already seen without any stickers last year, but now it was completely covered. In my opinion it looks better this way, what do you think?
A pesar de que la municipalidad de Ushuaia hace un gran esfuerzo por remover las pegatinas que los viajeros ponen en los carteles, esto es casi imposible de mantener. Imagínense que día tras día llegan cientos de viajeros a la ciudad del fin del mundo, que por supuesto quieren dejar su huella para la foto. Otro testigo de esto es el cartel de Ushuaia ubicado en el puerto, que ya lo había visto sin ningún sticker el año pasado, pero ahora estaba totalmente cubierto. En mi opinión queda mejor así, ¿ustedes qué creen?
Of course I didn't hesitate to leave our Hive and Worldmappin mark here as well. There was still some free space left (behind the sign there are also stickers), so it would probably be a while before they cleaned it up. The truth is that it's super fun to find a new place to stick them, and it stands out very well among the others. I left many of my stickers distributed in Ushuaia and surroundings, and at one point my trekking companions even suggested where to stick them. I loved this gift, thank you ❤️.
Por supuesto que no dudé a dejar nuestra huella de Hive y Worldmappin por acá también. Aún quedaba algo de lugar libre (detrás del cartel también hay stickers), por lo que seguramente faltaba un rato hasta que lo limpien. La verdad es que es super divertido encontrar un lugar nuevo donde pegarlos, y resalta muy bien entre los demás. Dejé muchos de mis stickers distribuidos en Ushuaia y alrededores, y hasta llegó un momento en que mis acompañantes de trekking me sugerían en donde pegarlos. Me encantó este regalo, gracias ❤️.
In all this time writing for Hive, I was able to achieve much more than I could have imagined. I am happy to know that there are many of us who enjoy doing this, and that even though we are spread all over the world, there is always a way to get a little closer. Receiving this gift made me very happy and makes me feel even more a part of the Worldmappin project that I like to participate. And leaving little marks along the way makes the journeys even more fun ❤️.
En todo este tiempo escribiendo para Hive, pude obtener mucho más de lo que me hubiese imaginado. Me alegra saber que somos muchas las personas que disfrutamos de hacer esto, y que aunque estemos distribuidos por todas partes del mundo, siempre existe la manera de acercarse un poco. Recibir este regalo me hizo muy feliz y me hace sentir aún más parte del proyecto de Worldmappin del que me gusta tanto participar. Y dejar pequeñas marcas en el camino vuelve aún más divertidas las travesías ❤️.
