We made a lot of noise about it, drafted lots of plans, sacrificed time, money and other resources. And now, I'm very delighted to inform you all that the first Hive-Funaab community hangout was a success!!
In this post, I'll be giving a rundown of how the day went.
A few days leading to the day of the hangout, I developed a mild case of malaria. Determined not to let that deter me, I quickly rushed to a nearby clinic where they administered some drugs to me. After a few days, I started feeling better but I was still not fully strong.
Despite feeling a bit weak, I still tried my best to ensure I would be fit before the day arrived. Fortunately for me, I woke up Saturday feeling better than the previous day.
I was quite excited about the meetup, and I knew the others too were very happy as well. I could see it in their faces as I entered the bus, with most of them grinning from ear to ear. Or perhaps it was the coke and meat-pie combo that was making it's way down their throats. There was one thing I was sure of though - it was finally time to have fun, and everyone was excited about that.
The driver switched on the ignition - giving life to the white 18-seater Mazda bus. The road was quite busy in the morning. Being a Saturday, many events were happening that day, and the tiny road network meant that standstills were bound to happen. We would have been stuck in the standstill, but thanks to the experience of the driver, we were able to maneuver and escape it. About an hour later, we had gotten to our destination.
Our first stop was the OOPL wildlife park where we got to see different kind of animals. This was actually the first time I was entering a zoo, so I actually didn't know what to expect, but I just maintained my cool and went with the flow.
Getting into the zoo, I wasn't really interested and I could see that the animals too weren't fans of being locked up in an enclosed area. So, for me, the zoo wasn't really much of an exciting experience for me.
One thing I must admit though is that, I enjoyed seeing some of those animals in real life. Just didn't enjoy them like I thought I would.
Here are some of the images we took at the zoo.
The next place we went to was the OOPL cinema where we went to watch the just released movie - Spiderman: No way home. Don't worry, I won't drop spoilers(you can thank me later).
The movie was very interesting and worth every dime paid for it. Let me just put it at that. 😅
Due to the fact that our time was far spent, and we needed to get back to our various lives, we decided to call it a day at the cinema. So, after we finished watching the movie, we all proceeded to where our bus was parked.
It's an honor that I was instrumental towards the success of the event.
My sincere appreciation goes to everyone who made this possible - our amazing community members - @coderedex @starstrings01 @hepziba @temibot @mayorkeys @heskay... I wish I could mention everyone here, people who donated towards this cause, everyone who wished us well. A very big thank you to you all.
