Early this year, I've been brought a Warhammer Cursed City. Its's great set with a plenty number of miniatures ready to be played. Its a lot of work, and my waiting list is still a long way to go. But I decided to slip in a few minis between my works. So now I've finished a unit of Ulfenwatch Skeleton Warriors which consists of 10 models.
Ulfenwatch is more of a basic units, maybe more of battleline type. This is shown in the warscroll, that they consist of large number of models with very minimum wounds threshold. Their number of attacks, hit-wound threshold, and damage are all looks very minimum.
The paintwork start by putting a primer paint on the models. As usual I used my Brainmatter Beige from Army Painter to bleach the whole models. It's a difficult paint to use because of its viscosity.
The 3 (three) main colors areas for these units consists of the robe, metal armors, and the chain mail. I pick Mephiston Red, which is a red with stronger tone aspect. The metal armors are colored using Runelord Brass. And lastly, I use Leadbelcher to color the chain mail.
I continue with other detail. For the skull, I use Screaming Skull, which has a more goldish white. I paint Mournfang Brown recently have been my standard choice to color belt and strap. To maintain the gloomy and damp atmosphere of the skeletons, I decided to use Rhinox Hide, which had extra shade brown to color the wood of the spear and shield. Another Leadbelcher are used to color the Cutlass. For the tip of the spear, I pick Rough Iron from Army Painter. And finally Astrogranite to color the base.
Finally, we continue to put shade to shadow the recess and put several highlights. I used Reikland Fleshshade to shade the armor. The reddish color would blend very well with the red cloth. For the skull part, I use soft tone, which is a little bit greenish. And to make a used effect on the spear, I dry brush it with Ryza Rust.
